Courtyard Wausau

As a Titanium Platinum Elite Rewards member, I've traveled extensively throughout my career and stayed at numerous Marriott properties. Without a doubt, this is the nicest Courtyard I've ever stayed at, and I highly recommend it. The circumstances for our stay were not ideal—my 90-year-old father was in the Cardiac ICU at Aspirus Hospital. However, the staff made us feel extra special and genuinely cared about our situation. My mom, wife, and kids all stayed here at different times from late December to mid-January. I highly recommend this hotel and want to give a special shout-out to Michael and Tao at the front desk, Lauretta in the Bistro, and Daniel Berg, the General Manager. You were all amazing! Thank you for making our time in Wausau memorable and for your heartfelt care! 🙌❤️

We got a king size bed with a pull out sofa for our son. This room is laid out oddly at best. The tv is parallel to the bed. What kind of monster does that. The flow of this room is completely off. The dresser in the room appear old and very dinged up leaving the room with a dated feel. The lobby is nicely updated . It’s an ok place to lay your head for the night.

Room was clean but starting to look a bit retro (and not in a good way). Complementary internet was very slow, unusable really. I'm not talking about streaming, just loading simple web pages. I ended up turning off my device wi-fi and using cell signal. Not sure if router coverage is poor or if they're dialing back speed to get guests to purchase the upgrade. Either way it isn't acceptable to me. Morning coffee: One packet for the in-room brewer and no complementary service in the lobby. I don't care about "free" breakfast, in fact I prefer hotels without (no hockey teams staying there!), but a pot of coffee and hot water for tea doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation. Road noise on the west side is quite noticeable, except when the loud heating system kicks in. I would have rated this hotel average if it were an average-priced property (a Fairfield, for example), but it's not. The rate was just north of $2 Benjamins per night even though occupancy was sparse. I recognize the pandemic has been hard on the hospitality industry, but cutting back on upkeep and services isn't a good way to get my return business.
