Stayed 2 nights for a wedding and it's okay but as other reviewers have said, outdated and a little grotty. The pub itself is beautiful but that's not where you stay - there's some rooms around the side. The bathroom had mould and the vent didn't work, it has a big sign saying not to leave the door open so after showering for a few minutes you're in a fog. Miniscule bottles of shampoo and shower gel. The closet (where we had to store our suit and bridesmaids dress) had mould and damp, absolutely gross. The windows are single glazed, the door can't be locked from the inside apart from on a chain - it blew open from the wind in the night. You're right by the pub's kitchen so the smells are incredibly strong, plus in the morning there was almighty noise from beer kegs getting changed and ferried about. After all that though, the bed is very comfy.

My husband and I went in for a very rare lunch out for our wedding anniversary. The meals were both massively overcooked, and when I mentioned it to the serving staff member she just walked away. When it came to paying she asked "will we be seeing you again" and i responded honestly but politely "no because our food was overcooked". She didn't say a word and as we left we got a sarcastic goodbye. Very disappointing and not what we expected from a small local business at all.

Stayed one night with my dog whilst walking the Peddars Way. Friendly welcome and reasonably priced large servings of decent pub food. Rooms are nice and quiet as they are out the back, so got a good night's sleep. Fridge and microwave in the room, which is handy. Fitted my needs well.

Stayed for 1 night as was celebrating a friends 40th birthday party in the area. Upon arrival we were greeted and decided to have lunch before checking in as we arrived a little early. The food was amazing, massive portions and such good value for money, definitely the best Lunch I’ve had in a while. Once all checked we went to our room and was pleasantly surprised how cosy the room was and had everything we needed. Decided not to upgrade to the full English breakfast in the morning, but had a lovely selection of choice from the continental breakfast that was all ready in our room! Had a great nights sleep apart from the fridge was a little noisy during the night. Would definitely recommend staying here as great value for money and great location. If staying in the area again will be booking here again.

Praise given where it’s due - it’s a beautiful, historic, thatched building and the large room was extremely clean and quiet, but I’m afraid they are the only positives from our experience here. What should be a lovely looking hotel is dwarfed by the enormous marquee in front of it through which you enter the accommodation area. There is zero customer service. This is sort of explained on the website as ongoing Covid measures but, on arrival, it seems it’s just a means of keeping staffing levels to a minimum. We obtained the keys from the lockbox outside the room after being sent the code by text. The room (which had a view of a dilapidated screen hiding a utility area) is in dire need of paint, new curtains (which are badly ripped on the blackout side), the bathroom door frame was rotten from the damp as a result of leakage from the shower which is half glass/half shower curtain. There is a noisy fridge perched on top of a coffee table with a microwave on top of that. There was plenty of coffee and biscuits to be fair but breakfast was “continental” - 4 slices of bread wrapped in two’s in cling wrap in the fridge for a toaster we didn’t have, two long life yogurts, four mini packs of cereal and a pint of milk which had a best before date of the day we arrived in the room. Water didn’t come through the shower head and we thought the water supply had been turned off. While we texted and telephoned the number we had been told to use if we had any issues during our stay to let them know and to ask about the toaster, the water actually started to come through the shower head - it literally took two minutes. Rather than a member of staff being sent to bring us a toaster, we were given the code for the lockbox to a different room and had to go and get it from there ourselves. This could be a really lovely hotel/B&B but, for all the reasons given above, it is a very over-priced, inhospitable, experience and only worth staying if you need a bed for the night and can’t find anywhere else to stay. We found somewhere else for our next night which was just fabulous in comparison for almost the same price.

Lovely hotel with big comfy beds and all you could wish for for a short break . We stayed here for one night whilst attending a friends wedding . It was a lovely stay with everything you could want! We also had a meal in the main restaurant and the lady that served us (had Purple hair ) was very attentive / polite and deserves a shout out as she was rushed off her feet but still did all she could for us . Slept like a baby as the area was very quiet at night .

It is an okay stay. Beds comfy enough. Place is clean enough. Staff are nice enough. Rooms are a bit tired need a redecoration etc. Breakfast was nice but for £11 per head not worth it. There are cafe,s in town. Would i stay again. Yes i would

No vegan option, waiter seemed unfassed by dietary needs. (My fault for not ringing ahead) Dessert creme burlee advertised as raspberry but actually blue Berry, overcooked almost curddled- not present. Won't be returning. Dog friendly, water for pets was available.

A long awaited reunion kinda ruined by slow service and very average food. Expected better after reading the reviews. Not many people in there so no excuse for slow service. Also items on the end were not available. Maybe not their fault but still added to a not great experience.
