Visiwa Beach Resort

Visiwa is a nice and pretty resort right on the beach with astonishing ocean views rooms and an excellent Italian restaurant which is probably one of the best around here. Service is very personal and accurate. We stayed for 3 nights, but I imagine spend a week without any problems.

Expensive and not consumer friendly during the low season . Better places to stay for n Watamu . Will not recommend to stay as family

Lovely hotel. We stayed here with a couple of friends for a couple of nights. The rooms were very clean. It was scorching hot, but the AC in the room worked well. The staff incl. management were verynice and helpful. We ate at the restaurant multiple times and the food was good. Good spot by the beach.

On the good side - beautiful location, not too big property right by the beach, nice interior design, rooms have air conditioning. What we didn’t like: breakfast wasn’t great, terrace very hot, “coffee” is a help-yourself-tin of cheap local instant powder. Service is very inconsistent and unreliable from room cleaning to unmotivated waiters (the young trainees were nice though). We were given the opportunity to take a seaview room against extra charge - the room stank from a pipe drainage problem, management was aware of it and still sold it to us as upgrade option. Pool times are limited only from 9.00-17.30, so you can’t use it in the earlier or later hours when the tropical sun is less intense. You always have to walk through the bar and lobby when going or coming from swimming. Food is more expensive than other Italian places in walking distance. All in all a place with potential, but for us not an overwhelming experience.

We spent 6 nights at Visiwa, over New Year, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very well designed, with extremely comfortable beds and clever mosquito nets. Gisella (manager) was very helpful, and in fact all the members of staff were friendly and nothing too much trouble. We particularly loved the day beds, with views over the extraordinary beach and coral islands. We ate lunch and dinner quite a few times and the meals were fresh and delicious. Watamu itself was great fun to explore, and it is very easy to get around by tuk tuk.

The Hotel is nice and clean. Food not as we expect from all the reviews. Food is average. Pasta and Pizza is perfect. Meat they dont know how to cook it. My Angus Filet was like chewing gum. Beach is very dirty…plastic bottles and trash everywhere.

Probably best beach front hotel in Watamu. Stayed for 3 nights, good breakfast, good candlelit dinner by the pool, great cocktails, beautiful clean room with nice balcony. Hotel and surroundings make for fantastic setting but aspects of service and details (eg drinking water not freely available to refill bottles and powdered milk in room) mean it’s not 5 star. Staff watched whilst I picked litter from the beach and Watamu in general could do more to keep the beach clean.

This is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic view and a somewhat private beach. The owners are extremely pleasant and friendly and this only enhanced my experience. The rooms are nice and spacious and well equipped. Since my last visit, there were some upgrades and added amenities to the room which were great. The somewhat private beach that Visiwa has is a gem. It means you get some sort of privacy from the main Watamu beach and there are fewer people around the area. The pastas and pizzas on the menu are all absolutely delicious and worth ordering. My main criticism is that the service in the restaurant is very disappointing. The staff are generally not friendly, they are not attentive and the service provided is very inconsistent. There was only one waitress who was pleasant and attentive throughout my trip.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for a breakaway of 7 days and had one of our best beach holidays in Kenya. This small boutique hotel with merely 8-10 rooms is professionally managed with a very personal Italian touch found in details as …. More gazebos around the pool and beach than rooms! So you never have to worry about your “first class seat”. Excellent and comfortable pool and gazebo mattresses, shade and sun wherever you want. But the most important to point out is the restaurant, which I may say based on my professional experience is one of the best I the country. From homemade REAL Italian pizza to spaghetti and tagliolini homemade with the most delicious sauces from seafoinchhes to mushrooms. The fish is fresh and the tuna tartar and the sashimi (though not Italian 😉) is out of this world. I’d like to thank the owners and managers Corinne and Maurizio once again for this unforgettable stay!
