What an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks. We had booked "Niddy" an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character. The only ****** I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room. Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening. The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had. The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away) The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely return.

We spent 1 night at the Woolpack, which is set in a lovely small village opposite the church. The pub is very nicely decorated with quirky touches. Our room was well equipped with a gorgeous roll top bath with wonderful views. A well stocked tea and coffee tray with a decanter of sherry, which was delicious and a lovely touch. Snuggly bath robes, ample toiletries which smelt Devine, and a super comfy bed! The restaurant was amazing. We had a great evening meal and breakfast was the best!!! The pub can get a bit noisy of a weekend, so bear this in mind as noise travels in old buildings. Lastly, the staff were super friendly and would do anything for you.

So quirky, all the rooms have different themes. Ours was Honeychild and has the bath in the bedroom with a milk churn fitted with the taps, separate loo which was a bit dark but again quirky. Over the bed there was a head of a cow made out of fibreglass. It was so good. The armchair was tatty in a perfectly fitting way and so comfy. The bed was so comfy and the pillows gorgeous. They provide a coffee machine, kettle and pods for the machine, hot chocolate and tea and there was an honesty box on the landing outside for extras. Milk and bottled water was available in the fridge of the landing. Plus there was a little decanter with some wonderful sloe gin in, a lovely touch. The only things that weren't quite right for me were the fact that the hairdryer couldn't be plugged in near the mirror (the mirror near the fireplace was a bit high for me as I'm only 5ft 4"). The steps up to the rooms are very twisty and if you have any mobility issues it can be very difficult to get up and down. The food, we had lunch and dinner on the first day and breakfast the next, was really good and locally produced. The staff were so lovely and friendly on all shifts. We would go back if in the area, especially for the food and the views of the church and the fields. There is also free parking which is great. I would recommend anyone if in the area to give it a try (and they are dog friendly :) ). Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay.

I have avoided this pub for a few years as the food was grim and expensive. I read a new chef from ‘Rocksalt’ Folkestone had been brought in so decided to give it a go. The Chorizo Scotch eggs were excellent. Tasty and runny. I had the rabbit which was very good. The assortment of foods on this plate were excellent. My companion had the Halibut which was even better. Locally sourced and beautifully cooked. I really hope ‘Chris’ the chef stays and the promise of a new kitchen actually materialises. I know this has been promised to previous incumbents but never appeared. This pub could really work if it keeps an actual chef and what passes off as a kitchen is finally ripped out. Publicity needs to be upped now it is actually working and best publicity sits with the individual pub in order to flex to current developments in the village. If you want ‘locals’ back you need to reflect their needs and issues.

Very unique and quirky pub. Very nice staff, good beer and the dinner and breakfast were excellent. Highly recommended if you don’t like plastic pub chains!

Great staff, friendly and accommodating, however, the room I stayed in (attic) is not conducive to any guest with mobility problems as the stairs are difficult to negotiate and the room is very cramped with little usable space where you can’t stand upright! The toilet is for sitting only (use your imagination) and there’s only a bath and no shower facility! I stayed while it was very hot and there were no end of flying insects in the room as the windows remained open! Breakfast was provided but didn’t start until 09:30 so I guess most would decline as this was too late.
