Awesome river side hotel. Extremely delicious food. Far from the city so no worries of wife shopping. The rooms are very huge and every room comes with a bathtub . The best part is the beautiful swimming pool. The walk around the hotel land sipping Tea sitting by the window and watching the river go down endlessly.... awesome.

Hotel Pema Karpo is located just across the river and mountains with magnificent views from all the rooms. The staff is excellent, efficient and extremely cooperative. Since we had a day tour and my son wanted to use the pool before going out, the staff arranged for the pool to be open and the lifeguard to be present at 7.30 am itself as against the pool's opening time of 9 am. The food was excellent although there was a huge group of Gujarati tourists (Heena Tours and Travels) who made a lot of noise ( they are notorious for doing so and the Hotel cannot be blamed for that). The rooms are spacious (although in need of some renovation) and the prompt service reminded me of Alladin and his magic lamp. I complimented the staff on their service excellence. Great work, guys. Keep it up !!!

The staff are some of the friendliest I have encountered in Bhutan. They are just finishing up renovations, which will make the place even nicer. The Spa was excellent! The food was good, and the restaurant staff were equally friendly. The Wi-Fi was adequate and worked well even though my room was at the end of the hall. The refrigerator in the room was a nice touch. The room was large and comfortable. My only complaint was there was plenty of hot water, but the water pressure was low.

Such a great welcome, smooth check in, humble staff, good rooms (we were not given AC rooms inspite of booking in advance they gave sick excuse saying AC rooms are under renovation) delicious food. This was a package deal arranged by our travel agent for a family of 3 -- self, wife and adult son. It was a large double room with an extra bed. It was very comfortable. Apparently the hotel is very popular with Indian travellers. Our key take home was beautiful river view. There a couple of park benches on the banks and one can sit all day long and watch the serene sight of a flowing river

The hotel was booked by my travel agent and the hot shower wasn't working. It took more than 4 people to look into it and they were not able to fix it. After an hour of struggle nothing happened and I requested another room. Shifting was a other hassle as many things left in the old room had to be transferred and I have left a pair of trousers behind( room 319). Will not recommend this hotel. Pls ensure things are proper before a guest checks in.

We stayed here for a night. Family of 4 and had taken 2 rooms. The location is very serene and offbeat. The riverbank is right across the hotel and the view on the other side is also beautiful -- farms and paddy plantation. Resort staff was very helpful and courteous. They do not have elevators and the front desk was kind enough to get us 1 ground floor room for seniors in our group. Food was simple, but good. No complains. The entire hotel staff did their utmost to make our stay pleasant and nice. Rooms are equipped with heaters and thats helpful since it was pretty cold in the night. Dont go looking for luxury or very modern amenities. Rooms are spacious & clean. Nothing uber but nothing to complain as well.

I had a pleasant stay at Pema Karoo hotel. The location of the hotel is riverfront, far out of town, away from shops and restaurants. However, like all tourists in Bhutan, I was full board, so all of my meals were taken care of by the hotel, so the location wasn't an issue for me. I did see the town itself, and it was nothing to write home about, so I was quite happy to be staying in a quiet hotel located on the river. There were very few guests staying at the hotel while I was there in December, so it was rather peaceful. Rooms were very large and spacious. Rooms were equipped with furniture (couch, chair, desk, coffee table, bed side tables), a heater, an electric kettle, flat screen tv with satellite and many English news and entertainment channels. Wifi was extremely spotty and dropped frequently, for long periods of time, or simply struggled to connect. When it did work, it was only strong enough to send a few messages and load basic webpages. Upon check-in, I was greeted by friendly, smiling staff and offered a welcome coffee/tea (proper coffee, not "coffee-tea" - thank you!). Staff were courteous and always on hand. Staff were extremely accommodating in making my stay at the hotel as pleasant as possible, catering meals exactly to specification and dietary preferences. They would check in with guests prior to every meal to ensure dietary requirements were met and meals were served on time. I have to thank the staff, as all of the meals were terrific, and were prepared according to dietary preferences. Rooms came with toiletries, which was a nice surprise. 2 bottled water, 2-3 dental kits with a fairly big toothpaste inside, shampoo, shower gel, 2 bar soap, instant coffee/Nescafé and milk powder packets were supplied and replenished each day. Towels were clean, linen was nice (but very used, and stained), and beds were comfortable! Upon check-in, my bathroom wasn't cleaned, and there were many black hairs all over the tub and floor, and used towels all over the floor...but staff were quick to resolve the issue, with many apologies, and cleaned the bathroom. It wasn't an issue for me to wait 10 minutes for this, and appreciated that staff were attentive to resolving the issue! The only other deficiency in the room would be the lack of power outlets. Really, there was only one functioning and available outlet, in my room and I overheard other guests commenting the same. You were made to choose between running the heater, running the kettle or charging your phone. My work around was to unplug the TV and satellite overnight, allowing me to run the heater (it was cold in December!) and charge my phone simultaneously. Overall, a nice hotel, a great stay and I would stay again at this hotel! The staff made the stay a pleasurable and comfortable one!
