River House Inn

My husband and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary at the River House and Restaurant. The natural setting is beautiful— next one of the oldest rivers in the world. The restaurant's dinners are some of the best I have ever had. Breakfast was also delicious. We will be back.

The food was fabulous. My husband had the best filet of his life and he is a world traveler. The breakfast was unique, the scrambled eggs were moist and tasty. The ambience of the restaurant was charming; we had cocktails on the porch which overlooked the river and ate at a quaint table for two with a window view. The accommodations were very comfortable. Stayed in a loft room with a large bathtub in the middle of its own room versus the bathroom. King size bed was very comfortable and we were served coffee in our rooms in the morning. The staff was super friendly and very customer service oriented. We will definite visit them again.

A quiet, relaxing place in the middle of nowhere. In you plan to do just nothing than sitting on the porch in a rocking chair, it‘s the perfect place to be. We exatly did that on the second day of our stay. If you’re traveling with kids we cannot recommend that Inn because there is nothing to do for them except board games and books we brought from home. Nevertheless we had three great nights, enjoyed great pizza at the Pie on the Mountain, Which was only a 15 mins drive to Lansing. What we learned was, that the Inn is a good restaurant to dine and listen to the piano player. We cannot evaluate the Menu since we didn’t dine there; again because we were traveling with a 11 year old, who would have hardly find anything on the menu. BUT if you’re traveling without kids, it will be a quiet and relaxing experience.

River House Inn and Restaurant is a Gem for getting away and relaxing. The facility is not anything fancy, but the Staff, Service, & Food make up for any shortfalls on the facilities. Sitting on the New River, the Inn is quaint and charming. This is our second time here and we will return again and again.

The whole weekend was a delightful experience The Food was dynamite as well as the staff The lodging was clean and staff was anxious to make your stay perfect. The ambiance of the front porch and the new river was quite a combination and the bar items were top shelf

Had a family dinner at the Inn. Friendly staff, good food and intolerable volume in the dining room. I’ve been in quieter bars after midnight. The noise level/acoustics is a deal breaker. If you can tolerate it - enjoy it. We won’t be back - ever.

Went to this charming place on a trip with friends to visit wineries and see a concert in Jefferson . Stayed in the main house so I had an easy flight of stairs . Breakfast was delicious although not too many choices . Like the rockers on the porch , kitchen herb garden and the large variety of books in every room - felt like a library . The early morning coffee on a tray was a treat . Not fancy but was very clean. The hostess was friendly and welcoming.

Wonderful place, extremely quiet and peaceful. Visited for a private event. Breakfast and dinner are first class. Everyone strives to help in any way possible. The New River that flows just in front of the property is also a beautiful thing to watch. The surrounding Blue Ridge mountains complete a perfect scenery!

Situated among the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and along the banks of the New River in Northwestern North Carolina, the River House Inn & Restaurant offers a top-shelf dining experience as well as cozy accommodations! The guest rooms/suites occupy outbuilding cottages that exude historic charm and include all of the modern amenities and conveniences! Elegant and sophisticated, the inn also exudes a homey and down-to-earth vibe! The owners and staff are personable as well as efficient, and fellow guests become instant friends! On select Sunday afternoons, they offer live music accompanied by scrumptious hors d’œuvres, a gourmet four-course dinner, and what surely must be considered to be the finest wine selection in this part of the state! My wife and I were fortunate to be in attendance during one such performance which featured Emile Pandolfi (world-renowned pianist) and Dana Russell (highly-acclaimed singer)! Mr. Pandolfi possesses virtuosic technique as well as a very tasteful and imaginative arranging style! Ms. Russell is an incredibly versatile singer who delivers everything from operetta to classic standards! The entire experience was magnificent on so many levels! We can hardly wait for a return visit!
