Residence Inn Walnut Creek

Bottom line: They cancelled my reservation with zero notice or outreach. I've stayed at this location about 8 times over the last 2 years, with the staff typically recognizing my son and I. This memorial day weekend I had a reservation at our ”usual”, prepaid in February booked via my credit card. After receiving numerous Marriott emails, as recently as the morning prior to driving all the way up from LA, as was typical, confirming the reservation and saying to check in now, when I arrived at 4:30 with my child, Barsoom told me I had no reservation. He shrugged, you booked it through *******, my manager cancelled it. The marriot down the street has rooms. Not even contact info for them, just you have no reservation. My manager cancelled it. He lied saying that ******* doesn't provide contact info- it does, I've worked in hotels. Also he called his manager and acted like I was making up things while showing him the confirmation email saying I had prepaid. ”she thinks” like no, this isn't a guess. It's an email on my iphone I'm literally showing you with the correct property, dates, address, my name, everything. Protocol is to cancel the most recently made reservations that were sold after the ”oversold” occur. Not ones made months prior. And it's also protocol to contact people. Empathy dictates you would at least have a printout of nearby properties with similiar attributes. If I wanted to stay at the property two blocks away I would have booked there. Glad we didn't hit traffic as we sometimes do or showed up after dinner. Stranding a woman and child on a holiday weekend? Not ok.

This is a gem of a hotel. It's an old school build of the old motel design, but has been completely renovated. It's super clean and modern. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and retail. Right in Walnut Creeks center. Excellent value, huge pride of ownership apparent. Will stay there again.
Motel 6 Walnut Creek, CA

I recently stayed at this Motel 6 for a overnight stay. The checkin was easy and I had no issues. The room provided all the amenities I would expect for a budget motel. I will stay here again in the future.
Holiday Inn Express Walnut Creek

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times throughout the past three years going back and forth from the Bay Area for work. Each time has somehow been increasingly worse of an experience. From the countless drug addicts seen staying at this hotel to watching a manager speak down and berate a new hire that had difficulty understanding English while checking in. I thought that maybe these were just circumstantial situations to my first few stays. However, with this last encounter having ”rust” and hair throughout the shower tub, I was pretty much at my end dealing with this specific hotel/location. You'd believe Walnut Creek would be held to a higher standard than what you'd expect out of a motel in Concord or Pittsburg. Considering the extreme measures people have gone to with Covid I would have thought the hotel would take pride in cleanliness or take responsibility for the pure negligence of cleaning the bathroom. I believed it was blood but I was told by a manager through a phone call it was rust. As somebody who has ran a real estate investment company for most of my life I certainly find it hard to believe this is rust or that it would not be addressed immediately if it was. Also find it hard to believe it was rust when there was splatters and hair throughout the tub not on the metal part of the shower drain but on the tub itself. Nevertheless, I did not appreciate being talked down to on the voicemail that was left for me and I was sure to let them know that. I also had told them I'd be making it very known about the disgusting conditions of this hotel and the pure disrespect I was shown. This is not the first bad experience here. It's bad every single time. I was offered free parking but in my opinion it's just the principal behind it and it was truly just disgusting. After talking to corporate on the phone about the situation and all the experiences for an hour the gentleman had offered me points to try and rectify the situation. I do not even know what the points equivocate out to dollar wise and this was after I made it a big deal; also why would I EVER stay at an IHG hotel again. Especially an organization that doesn't take any responsibility for the poorly ran facility. I hope that everyone that sees this review picks a different hotel to stay in. You can find a much better hotel like the Marriot for roughly the same price and you won't have to deal with any of these issues that I have dealt with every time. I am not one to cause issues nor to write a negative review but this place should honestly be labeled a Motel or be put out of business. I gave this property location and corporate plenty of opportunities to make the situation right and to take responsibility but neither were done. The manager made it out to seem that I was a scum bag looking for a hand out and they had already given me points so that should have been good enough. This has overall been the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life. PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!

The price is not cheap, the room is small, the pool is not bad, the service is general, and the sanitation is in place. Parking charges, this hotel seems to be like this, there is a car recommended to choose the surrounding hotel

Inflation has caused the dollar to depreciate. A hotel that originally cost 100 US dollars is now 200 to 300 US dollars. The overall situation is generally very poor. The weekly hotel experience is simply incomparable with that of Asia. There is no executive lounge and no membership service. I would never stay in a hotel like this if I had to.
