The Wesley Walla Walla

We enjoyed our stay in the Poplar Cottage. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. The one factor that the Wesley lacks is hospitality. There is absolutely no interaction beyond texts. Occasionally, you will see guests coming and going, otherwise it has an odd feeling of vacancy. I always enjoy meeting either the innkeepers or a person at the front desk who welcome you. Human interaction is key especially at Inns such as the Wesley.

My wife and I were in WW for one day and wanted somewhere near downtown to spend the evening. We found the Wesley to be very nice and convenient to the downtown area. The facility is very quaint. Because of the time of year and the weather we didn't take advantage of the large outdoor seating area. The room was quite large with a bathroom area almost equal in size. The kitchenette had a microwave, dorm refrigerator and the ability to make our own coffee with either a French Press of Drip machine. The TV system is handled by Roku, which I am not familiar with. I finally figured out that I could use my YouTube TV account for local news and weather. Just a few constructive comments. The reading lamps on either side of the bed were old telescoping lights that would not stay in position. Also the bulbs were dim incandescent style that didn't afford much light for reading. I would replace these with newer, adjustable LED lights. The very large walk-in shower was very nice but lacked any sort of hand rails. Adding either a horizontal and/or vertical handrail would be a great convenience and add safety. Overall, we were very pleased with our overnight experience.

From the outside, the Wesley appears to be yet another huge Victorian ( and there are a few more, possibly appearing even larger but once inside and viewing the grounds, you will be transported into very attentive luxury. Individual, private cabanas, hot tubs, strolling paths, grills, tables, discreet lightening. We were very fortunate to stay in the penthouse, 3rd level. The kitchen was gorgeous and the coffee bar featured every possible coffee making device on the market along with delicious coffee choices and additional flavors, creamers, etc. a complementary bottle of wine and discounts to many local wineries were provided. While all was very enjoyable my FAVORITE area was the loft/nook for reading as well as watching the sunset as the windows on three sides were above the tree. If you can, stay in the Penthouse!

We only stayed for one night which means we didn’t get to use the outside area. It is really beautiful! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We liked the little touches like the outlets having usb ports. There wasn’t a closet in our room but they had a bar with ample room to hang stuff. Outside the second story rooms was a little kitchen with appliances and coffee. We also had a complimentary bottle of wine! The best is the location easy walking to downtown Walla Walla. The only negative I have was the bathroom lighting was bad so a lighted make up mirror would have been a plus.

As advertised this gorgeous Victorian was updated with assorted mid- century in mind. Every creature comfort was addressed, the coffee station was outstanding. The loft sitting area provided fabulous sunset viewing as it was above the trees.
