Stayed here for one night whilst (incidentally) a medieval festival was taking place in the town. That meant no access to the hotel and its car park as all of the streets in a 100m radius to it were closed. Hotel did not advise of this prior to arrival so we struggled to find parking elsewhere and spent an hour doing so before we were actually able to then walk to the hotel to check in. There was no one at the hotel desk to speak to in relation to this (we didn’t see any staff for the duration of our stay) - we had to check in using a self-service machine in the lobby. Room was fine, however air conditioning was limited to 19 degrees coolest which wasn’t suitable when the temperature overnight was 20 degrees.

The design hotel Kronjuwel suits the somewhat sleepy Waldkirch very well. A certain extravagance in the corridors and rooms of the hotel brings a breath of fresh air. The rooms are clean and adequate - perhaps a little small. Unfortunately, the view is also lacking - but that's why it has a special design. Breakfast is offered in different categories and brought to the table. The service is friendly, unobtrusive but nice - just like the whole hotel. Dinner in the hotel's own restaurant is not only delicious, but a must.

We have already slept 1-2 nights in the Kronjuwel several times: + great central location + nice, modern rooms (not too big) + always friendly service + good restaurant attached * breakfast possible - 3 options to choose from (I personally prefer buffer) Conclusion - if you are looking for a modern hotel for a weekend, this is a great place to stay

The hotel is in the middle of town on a side street. It was quite loud, as the hotel certainly does not have soundproof windows. On Wednesdays, not only the restaurant but also the hotel is closed. We thought that this only applied to the restaurant. We had to check in at a machine, as you would expect from low-budget hotels. I am not used to this in a Black Forest hotel. We did not have the option of ordering a second pillow, as there was no one there. There is no minibar and we could not cool our cooling pillows. Breakfast for €15 per person was a disaster. There were eggs, but cheap sausage and cheap cheese. The rolls were stale. Jam and other things were packaged. That is not modern anymore. I thought Nutella on the cake stand was bad. I am no longer a child and I did not eat Nutella. There are many bakeries in town that are definitely cheaper and have a better selection. One positive thing: it was clean.

‚Designhotel‘ weckt als Name Erwartungen, die das Haus nicht halten kann. Die Zimmer sind praktisch und modern eingerichtet, typischer aktueller Businesshotel-Stil. Eingangsbereich/Rezeption eng und jenseits von stylish. Rezeptionsmitarbeiter (der auch Barkeeper, Kellner, Frühstpckskoch war) sehr freundlich. Restaurant bietet italienisches, habe ich nicht probiert. Preis/Leistung für das Zimmer gut, aber für das Frühstück 18 EUR waren absolut überteuert. Kein Buffet, es wurde serviert und alles, was auf den Tisch kam war, waren fade Industrieprodukte inkl. Unsäglicher Backwaren.
