The 1824 House is without a doubt one of the best. Farrell and Sean run a fantastic place and cater to your every need. Their dining room is beyond fabulous. The ambiance is terrific, the view of the mountains looking out through the huge barn doors is just plane spectacular. And ,OMG, the food is exceptional, the service outstanding and the prices are reasonable. This place is a real find and MUST to visit or just for a great meal.

We have stayed in many Bed & Breakfast Inns. What is most important to us is a comfortable bed and a clean room. 1824 House met our needs admirably. We stayed in the Caledonia room. King size bed was very comfortable. Best sleep I have had in a long time. Our room had its own entrance to the back with a porch with two chairs to enjoy the view. Caledonia is on the dog friendly part of house so the outside entrance would be very nice for your pet. The owners have 2 large friendly dogs that you will see if you choose to stay in the Caledonia room. Breakfast offered many choices on a menu you ordered from which was a nice touch.

I'm always worried that a bed-and-breakfast will be precious, so the 1824 House Inn was a pleasant surprise--warm and informal but very well-run. We and our dog enjoyed a few days there, staying in both of the pet-friendly rooms, the larger and somewhat more expensive Caledonia room and the Franklin. Both were pleasantly decorated and plenty warm despite the low temps. Made-to-order breakfasts were hearty and delicious, and we also had a lovely home-cooked meal one night at the barn dining room, attended to by a corps of sweet young servers. Hosts Farrell and Sean are super-friendly and full of information and suggestions, including a tip that sent us snowshoeing just across the road, through quiet snowy fields and along a beautiful creek that has their summer swimming hole. We look forward to visiting again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this nice little Inn. Our room was not too spacious but very comfortable and clean. Breakfast with several options cooked to order was exceptional. Blueberry pancakes became our favorite. Sean and Farrell are very friendly hosts and had helpful tips to make the most out of our time in the area.

This was our first visit to Vermont and we couldn't have asked for a better experience-- with the Mad River Valley dusted with snow, this beautiful home and barn offered a near picture-perfect setting. The house is tastefully done in a traditional style and the both the public areas and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Dinners were in the barn, which has been converted into an amazing event space. Sean and Farrell are wonderful hosts and great cooks-- the breakfast specials changed daily and all of them were delicious. The property itself is perfectly situated right across from the Mad River-- we were able to easily walk across the street and take a mile or two hike along the river that was a postcard-perfect view of this lovely part of Vermont.
