Waiwo Dive Resort Raja Ampat

From arriving in Manado to our return to the Manado airport, Waiwo gave us nothing but the best. An incredible singing welcome greeted us at the resort, checkin was easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable- I shared a Sea View Macro, 5m from the sea. The quality, quantity and variety of food was beyond excellent, and the staff were outstanding. Our excursions were handled with efficiency and smiles. The dive centre and staff were top class, and took us to the best dive sites in the area... I can wholeheartedly recommend both divisions to anyone who wants an eco experience a cut above the rest. Thank you all!

The resort gives a true feel of the island. The staff is very very friendly, neat, caring and makes a point for detail. our room was a 5 star in my eyes. The dive crew is the best I've seen yet, HELPING WITH EVERYTHING, only leaving the pleasure for your enjoyment.

Our 3 day stay was last minute due to a catastrophic fire on our original Liveaboard. We were pleasantly surprised with the resort and dive center. Definitely pay for the VIP airport pick up/ferry boat drop off. Both were busy & chaotic, but the crew had it down to a science - well worth it! The resort was rustic, carved out of the jungle on a small beach. The sounds of the birds and waves from our beach front cottage were amazing. The newer cottages to the right side of the dining pavilion are much nicer. (I’d avoid the garden view cottages.) Food was good (mostly local) plentiful with the soups being my favorite. The dive center had lockers and photo equipment room w/cubbies but we never touched our gear once we set it out. The dive boat was fast, had plenty of room and there was a guide for every 2 people. It’ll be very nice when they finish their dock. I know homestays are less expensive, but I’ve got to have a in-room toilet & hot shower. This was a great value.

My husband and I visited the Waiwo dive resort in March 2024. We stayed in one of the ocean front bungalows. The room was large, nicely furnished with cathedral ceilings, air conditioning, ample closet and storage space. Comfortable bed, good pillows. The bathroom was also very spacious featuring a large separate shower, with hot water and excellent water pressure. In addition, the sink area features plenty of counterspace. The bungalow has a large porch. During high tide the sea literally comes to your doorstep, which is purely delightful. You will hear ocean sounds even at night. Very nice. You also have exotic birds, and jungle animals around you. Couscous bears in the trees. On the porch there is a natural wood, self-adjusting awesome rocking chair...I would return to this resort just to sit in that rocking chair and watch the sunset one more time. An incredible treat! OK. The food. I am not a foodie, I go to resorts for the environment, nature and for diving. This resort has all that. In my opinion, the food was tasty, with various offerings, cook to order breakfast, buffet style lunch, dinner, very nicely and cleanly presented. Ample portions, good variety of beef, fish, seafood, rice, pasta, potatoes. and tasty soups twice a day. The whole dining area is very clean and there is plenty of elbow room on the tables. A nice to have. There is also a small bar, they will make basic cocktails, provide ice, and serve beer and wine. There are water dispensers throughout the resort and in the rooms. Very convenient. The diving. One word. Superb! Sun-li and his team run a fantastic and safe operation, with large, fast, very convenient, well set up boats, and provide valet diving, simply outstanding service!! All you need to do is show up and clean your mask before a dive, they will do everything else for you. There is also a large camera room which is nice if you are a photographer. Couple additional notes. Please NOTE: there is no pool. Please NOTE: there are mosquitoes. This is a jungle setting. All things considered, we highly recommend this resort, and hope to return soon. Raja Ampat is a true paradise for diving but I do not recommand this divecenter. The manager does not care about safety. I checked the oxigen tank at the 2 boats. The first thank was empty and on the second boat there was a valve missing. With spring tide they did a current check but the captain dropped us on the wrong spot.. strong downcurrent and inexperienced diveguides. They were very lucky that there were no beginners on the boat. They also offered a packagedeal for additional dives in the beginning of my trip, but before my check-out increased the price and told me the package was no longer available. The only gesture was that I didn't had to pay for the short dive with down current. The staff at divecenter and resort was very friendly and helpfull and had a nice stay at the resort.

Two week stay at waiwo resort. All the staff were really friendly and polite. We felt really safe and there was a relaxed and happy atmosphere. The bungalows were clean and comfortable, right on the beach surrounded by nature. The food was very good, really nice soup and fresh bread, varied main courses, some dishes were a little spicy but there was always other options and a delicious dessert after every meal. Barbecue two nights and the staff from the resort and dive shop sang songs, that was so nice. The diving was really well organised. We covered a lot of different dive sites over the two weeks. The equipment was in good condition, safety definitely a priority. Always laughter and fun on the boat despite the language barrier, some staff had very good English and everyone made an effort to communicate. There was also a Cuscus that made appearances from time to time creating great excitement even among staff who saw it all the time.
