We spent a wonderful family stay in one of the five chalets of Hôtel L’Eau Vive in Vresse-sur-Semois. The chalet was spacious (we are 3 but it would be comfortable for 5, with three bedrooms) and set along a charming little river where children can play safely. The staff were absolutely delightful — always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and we loved enjoying it on the sunny terrace. Staying two nights in a chalet here feels like a privilege: you’re surrounded by nature yet have the comfort and full autonomy. We enjoyed simple, perfect moments — like sharing fresh bread and local cured meats on our private terrace, equipped with a table and chairs, while listening to the water flow by. A splendid and friendly place, ideal for recharging and reconnecting. We can’t wait to return!

The room and bathroom smell like a sewer, dirty spots on toilet door, light switches full of brown fingers, shower water is not going away. Wifi in hotel does not work, rest of hotel like hallways and sitting area also not clean, clearly not vacuum cleaned for way too long. By asking for help the staff only speak French, no English/german or Dutch at all. They talk in French back and leave you with the problem. Windows can only be fully open or not at all, since you sleep on the ground floor everyone can just step inside your room from outside. Overall a terrible experience.

Nice quiet spot, very friendly hosts and parking out of site of road for motorcycles (and cycles). Enjoyed a drink and very nice meal on the terrace outside the front of the hotel. Buffet breakfast had lots of choice.

Eau Vive is an hotel attempting to revive the charme of the old days. Many authentic elements in the interior, while the chambers have the standard modern comfort. It's the quality of the service and the food that has a lot of missed opportunities. The restaurant has a poor price-quality balance, with expensive ingredients (over)cooked in a poor way. Breakfast is ok. We woke up every morning at 7.30 because of the staff loud way of cleaning of among other the fireplace below our room. When we gave the feedback, they did not take us seriously, althoud they confirmed the fireplace is cleaned at that exact same time. when i suggested to clean it later in the day, as the comfort of guests was suffering, we got the response: 'the owners like a strict timing, so no possibility to change the time'.. so doubt if the feedback was passed on. The owner we were in touch with at the reception at a different moment was also not really responding friendly to questions about the lunch package, rather annoyed. So it's a pity, but the hospitality at the hotel is not at the level of what is needed to make guests feel welcome, rather functional. It a beautiful environment, but not reaching it's potential due to a lack of hospitality and willingness to make your stay comfortable.
