Grecotel Meli Palace

Beautiful hotel, immaculate grounds, gardens and buildings with friendly, efficient helpful staff. All at the top of their game to look after their guests. Food range was vast, extensive and very tasty at each and every meal. The one slight issue was that everything was a variation on a theme, each meal had the same style / type of dishes as the previous one, albeit all delicious and very well cooked. Desserts were very samey, always mousse based dishes, panacotas and a greek speciality. However, endless supplies and always beautifully presented. Avoid the 'butter", it is vile! Service was unpredictable, sometimes there was a long wait for drinks, simply not enough staff on drinks service - clearing was generally very efficient. Some staff could have been redeployed at peak periods to reduce delays. Entertainment is very corporate and sanitised, not for the young or those looking for active entertainment or join in type of fun. However, very professional and very well organised. I would ask the question why entertainment is provided the amphitheatre when there is no bar anywhere near? The pool bar service is great, free soft drinks, beer, coffee and ice cream with bar service for spirits , cocktails and barista coffees. However, the limited range of food offered there is not temperature controlled, largely uncovered and covered in flies - I, personally would not eat anything from the pool bar. Lunch was a bit of a pain, instead of providing a decent, informal service, guests have to leave the pool or beach, change into casual clothes and eat in the dining room - this splits the day and became a bind. The beach was immaculate, the lifeguard on duty was very efficient and looked after everyone, controlling swimming areas and water activity. Plenty of sunbeds for everyone, but only a limited number with sunshades - if you cannot get a subbed with a shade, or find space under a tree, you are in the sun all day. The beach is sandy until you enter the water, then it is rocks and stones so quality water shoes are essential. We found the rooms to be excellent, serviced every day, cleaned immaculately, although it was impossible to predict when they would be cleaned, and having guests return to their rooms to change before and after lunch must be disruptive to the staff - another reason to provide a better informal lunchtime alternative. Ground floor rooms have no privacy as they open onto lawns and footpaths. The rooms have no shutters or net curtains so options for fresh air and security / privacy are limited. The rooms have everything you need though they do not have fuller conditioning, just a variable speed fan which provided air at a set temperature. Ours was faulty but was swiftly repaired when reported. We found the beds to be too firm but were immediately provided with mattress toppers which made them very comfortable. I had a 12 Night stay here as a solo traveller from 09/06/25 - 21/06/25 and had a nice quiet, relaxing holiday. The hotel was located in a nice quiet location which is what I wanted. The hotel is clean and well maintained and all the staff were very friendly throughout my stay. I’m a very fussy/basic eater but there was always a good selection of food so I never went hungry. I liked how I didn’t have to rush up very early in the morning to get a sun-bed round the beach area as there was a pile of sun-beds(which are light) to pick up and plenty of space to put it to sit. Though towards the end of my holiday there was the one day where I did actually struggle to get one, so it may get harder as it gets busier. The swimming pool area there is not as much room. The self serving drinks machines and ice cream at the beach/pool bar is very good so I could just keep going up to refill and hardly queue though it was starting to get busier my last few days. I had a massage at the SPA which was very nice and relaxing, the staff there were very nice and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I took a walk into Sissi which was about 20-30 minutes and a nice little village with shops/bars and ATM machine (there isn’t an ATM at the hotel). The sea was nice to swim in, would definitely bring sea shoes to wear as it is pebbly and stoney as you enter the water. I had a Garden View room which was basic but had everything I needed. The cleaner who cleaned my room done a very good job. When away I do like to sit on my room balcony and chill. It was quite hard to do here as there is not much privacy as the balcony to your neighbour is like you are literally sitting next/with each other. Overall, I go on holiday to sit and relax and was sure able to do that here. Would return and recommend. Thank you everyone at Grecotel Meli Palace

Nice location , lots of food and very good customer service. They dont have many veg options as mains. The staff though did try their best to accommodate to our needs.

We have the best holiday of our lives thanks to Meli Palace. The love, care and kindness that surrounded us here was much more than hospitality. We were in tears as we said goodbye after our holiday. The most amazing hosts in the world! Thank you Maria! (and Giorgos, Ioanna, Christina, Caterina... everyone!)

I spend 4 days there my experience was amazing. Especially one boy of the animation team with name “ Leo “ is the best one. He is so kind and good with us and also he has a lot of fun. Thank Leo!

I really liked this hotel. It was clean, the buffet had quite a bit of choice every night & the drinks were lovely. The cocktails were perfect! Shout out to the entertainment team who were constantly engaging people, Rosemary on reception who was so informative & approachable & the lovely lifeguard who we brought the most beautiful painting off! It’s close to Sissi, around a 25 minute walk but straight forward. We also walked into Malia which was about an hour & the taxi back was 20 euros.
