Great location near shopping, restaurants, the Etruscan Arch, and the La Dogana parking garage. Attractively decorated. The room was comfortable and well laid out…we even had our own sort of "movie theater" due to the TV placement. The bed was comfortable, the area was quiet at night, and the shower was a nice size. The breakfast buffet offered many choices and they had thought of everything travelers might want (for example, both salted and unsalted butter; still and sparkling water; etc.) The only downside was that some rooms are halfway between the main floors (hard to explain) and require taking extra stairs. If you have trouble with stairs, try to avoid those rooms.

AC doesn't work. When you ask for help at front desk the man says he can't help and they will fix tomorrow. Huh?? We leave tomorrow. Not having a working AC in 100+ weather isn't ok: if it's not working tell guest so they can make a decision. Man at desk didn't seem to want to help- so I ended up having asthma issues and getting sick as it was so hot. I understand language barriers but this man didn't care to help or understand. From when we checked in at 4pm to now, it's gotten warmer- not cooler. Things happen. Things break.. but how the hotel responds can truly make it or ruin the experience. Won't ever book anyone here or recommend. 104 temp outside and no AC working well isn't ok.

great hotel in a wonderful location. Wish they had an elevator, but the owner was helpful with the luggage and the stairs. Overall, the hotel is an outstanding value, and I would certainly stay there again

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in early June, ‘23. The location is very good once you’re there, but access by car can be tricky. There is no place to drop your luggage in front of the hotel, and instead the hotel suggests parking in Area #1 (an underground facility) then rolling your luggage through a couple of streets to the hotel, about 200 meters total with slight inclines. Unfortunately our car gps had difficulty locating the #1 parking garage and we wound up parking elsewhere, walking to the hotel, then moving the car and then transferring our luggage afterwards. The In is on a picturesque street in the historic section, just a short walk from the main square, and close to shops and restaurants (the hotel staff was very helpful in making recommendations). Another note on access is that although there is an elevator, reaching many rooms requires at least one short flight of stairs. In our case (room 403) we had to go down two flights from the elevator. Rooms 201-203 and 301-303 are level with the elevator, but at least one of them has stairs inside the room itself. Those with mobility issues might want to take this into consideration. The hotel interior is cute and stylishly decorated. The small lobby has a bar and a breakfast room to the rear. Our room (403) was very large and attractive, with an alcove that had a desk, a small fridge, and an upholstered chair. There was a comfortable king bed with two night stands and outlets nearby, and an armoire. The room also had a small terrace that would be pleasant during warmer weather. Storage space was limited in the room, but there was plenty of room for open suitcases. The large and attractive bathroom had a shower, bidet, and an open-base vanity with a small amount of counter space. Two shortcomings of the room is that the water took a long time to get warm and never got truly hot. Also, the room was quite cool at this time of year, and the radiators didn’t seem to be functioning. We were warm once in bed, however, with the help of the arctic-rated duvet, The breakfast area was cute but somewhat cramped. The selection was pretty good, with some fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, boiled eggs (others could be ordered), breakfast meats, and a small selection of breads and pastries. We recommend the Volterra In, with the reservations noted above.

We stayed here at the end of April for three nights and loved it. The room we had was very spacious and clean and the staff were very helpful. It’s a central location and although it is located on a hill, we enjoyed the extra exercise. We had breakfast on each of the three mornings and couldn’t miss it as there was a great selection and was delicious. If we ever return to Volterra, we’d definitely stay here again.

Since my husband and I prefer staying at smaller hotels, Hotel Volterra In was a perfectly lovely choice for our first visit to Volterra. The young ladies Giulia and Anna at the reception desk were attentive, helpful, pleasant, and always available to answer any questions and requests during our three days at the hotel. I had the most interaction with Giulia ,who was impressively prompt responding to my emails . Giulia arranged our transport to Agriturismo Podere Marcampo for a wine tour, and also our transport to Firenze our last morning at the hotel .It was also a pleasure to meet the owner of Hotel Volterra In Signor Marco. Signor Marco was at the hotel every day and actively involved. It was nice to have the opportunity to compliment him on his lovely hotel and great staff . It was thoughtful of Signor Marco to seat us just outside the busy breakfast room ,that was full of an enthusiastic group of fellow travelers . The buffet breakfast was plentiful, fresh and delicious thanks to Signora Nuncia ,who always had a sweet smile. The coffee machine made a perfect cappuccino and machiato with simply a push of a button. It was fast and very easy to use. Breakfast is included and was such a convenience. We reserved a suite , since the cost was very reasonable. The suite was comfortable, spacious, with a good sized bathroom and great shower. Everything was kept in perfect order thanks to Signora Latta's care. Discover Tuscany was a great site to use for information about Volterra. " a city rich in history." Hotel Volterra In was just a short walk from the famous Etruscan gate Porta all' Arco. During WW2 the people in Volterra took action when they found out the Nazis were coming to their town. Great story to Google if you like ! We were happy to spend three days in Volterra and to be able to see the sites at our leisure. We could walk to all the attractions. The Volterra Card was a good purchase and valid for 72 hours. There were plenty of restaurants, and we found them to be reasonably priced. We definitely enjoyed the local cuisine and wine. We felt very welcome in Volterra ,and we would highly recommend a visit and stay at the lovely Hotel Volterra In. Grazie mille for a wonderful three days in this charming Medieval city . Peggy & George

Consigliatissimo.
