Hotel la Reserve

This hotel isn’t really near anything, but it was a nice place. Breakfast was nice and dinner was nice. The odd thing was that we arrived around 1430 and our room was ready, but they stopped serving lunch at 1330. As I mentioned, this place wasn’t really near anything and we couldn’t get anything to eat or drink till dinner started. I asked the staff for recommendations and they suggested Zermatt, lol. We were hiking, lol.

We stopped for lunch. The restaurant looks ordinary inside…but…the service is very well trained indeed. We ordered pizza and salad…very good indeed…the pizza was the best I had in 30 years 😲😋😋😋 We had a 50cl bottle of Valais wine…Diolinoir….a very good wine too. The salad was very fresh and a wonderful homemade sauce too. This restaurant is a hidden great tip of you are going to The Valais in Switzerland…and stop for lunch or dinner on the way to Zermatt 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊👍👍

I stayed at La Reserve for two nights during my hike from Chamonix to Zermatt (Walkers Haute Route). After more than a week of hiking and camping with my tent, this hotel provided food, rest and comfort, before I would take off for the final hike to Zermatt. The hotel is directly on the hiking route, just out of the village center. The owner was very helpful when I wanted to reschedule my stay. I had booked for one night, but I was hiking faster than expected, so I arrived one day early. After a phone call the owner booked me another room where I could stay an extra night. When I left two days later, I asked for a very early breakfast (I wanted to hike as early as possible) and the owner made sure everything was there for me at 6:30 a.m. The food at the restaurant was delicious. I was very happy with the possibility of having a smaller pizza with a much larger salad, as I was craving for fresh vegetables. Breakfast was in serve-yourself style, with fresh bread, cheese, eggs, yoghurt. The building and room might be somewhat outdated in style, but everything was very clean and comfortable. And there was a very good private shower! All in all this was a very pleasant stay while hiking my 10 day hike in Switzerland.

We stayed here on our walk of the Haute Route. The manager Peter was super helpful and welcoming, we had great rooms with balconies and a fantastic dinner and a great breakfast. Would highly recommend.

After a long day hiking this was a great place to stay the night. Comfortable rooms and amazing pizza in the restaurant. A really generous breakfast. The Manager, Peter, was very welcoming. Would Definitely recommend if trekking through the Swiss Alps.
