Hotell Stenugnen

The hotel is located near the harbor in Visby. Here's the biggest downside: the hotel has no parking. We always had to look for this near the port for a fee. The hotel is said to be on a "play street", but the drivers/car drivers don't take it into account. Our room was on the first floor under the tin roof and because of the heat we had to sleep with the window open. The street noise mostly started around 5am with the sweeper. The room had a rotating fan on the ceiling for air conditioning, but it was so makeshift that after using it for a short time we quickly turned it off for fear that it would fall off while rotating. Reception is only open in the morning during breakfast time. You can then specify special requests such as new towels, room cleaning, etc. The staff and the owners are friendly, but nothing more. Breakfast is standard, ready made and without variety. Fruit meant: slices of watermelon, orange and sour grapes. At the end of our 6-day stay, we noticed that the hotel, which was filling up over time, and especially the white wooden staircase to the first floor, should have been cleaned a little more. All in all the hotel is average, easily accessible and close to the old town.
