My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Mango Bay Resort over the last week. We were debating about staying at a full-service resort vs. more of a villa style hotel. After speaking with friends who know the island, we decided the villa style is more of a "real" Virgin Gorda experience. We were very happy we made this decision. While there is no restaurant on site, we had a car and had groceries delivered before we arrived. 1) The location is perfect. The pictures on the web site do not give you a sense of how amazing the view is from the resort (including sunsets!). You have great snorkeling right out your door. You are close to Spanish Town and the Baths but still feel secluded. 2) Mary Beth is a very welcoming hotel manager who helped us with all the details and recommendations. She went out of her way to help us settle in when our bags were delayed. 3) We stayed in a large villa on the beach (#11) for most of the time and a smaller upstairs unit above the pool (#2A) for the last night b/c of availability. Beachfront is definitely the way to go--with wrap around water views and swimming just steps from your private patio. That said, both rooms were well appointed and had great mattresses (a must for us). We didn't feel we were lacking in our last night. 4) With our car we were able to freely zip around the island, try local hot spots, and make connections with incredibly warm local islanders who we would have never met if we stayed "on resort." For restaurants near the hotel, we recommend in order 1) CocoMaya (special night out) 2) Chez Bamboo (in town with great food, chill vibe, and the best Mojitos) 3) Sugarcane (right up the hill and great views). We did one lunch at the large resort near Spanish Town and honestly, while nice, it felt overrun compared with our near private beach at Mango Bay. One day we did a half day private boat charter with Ocean Bliss--which was a great way to get the "yacht" experience on the North Sound at a fraction of the price. We look forward to our next visit back, maybe we'll bring the kids--maybe not!

This was a lovely spot to stay. It is in a beautiful bay with nice swimming and is a small , quiet resort with beautiful rooms. The staff are excellent and were incredibly helpful when our taxi did not show up and we were going to miss the ferry (tip- book it for well in advance!); that really went above and beyond. There are plans to make a restaurant onsite which is great because you do need to arrive with food as there is none available nearby. Not a big deal unless you don't know that and arrive without a car. Would definitely stay again.

Mango Bay Resort was a quite unusual experience. There is a lot to unpack, so if you're thinking of staying here, you might want to stick with me for a minute. First "Resort" is a bit generous... There is no bar, or restaurant, or any kind of food service. No stores or shops, no spa services, nor are any of these things within walking distance. There is a pool, and a good amount of water toys for both pool and beach, and the charming proprietor, Mary Beth, and the killer water view. Mary Beth is working hard to get a bar and reaturant on property, and that would make a huge difference. We were in the 2 bedroom Beachfront Villa... so one of thier higher end options. The upside is these villas, as you can see in the photos, are incredibly close to the water, with breathtaking views. The other side of that coin is that the folks walking and hanging out on the beach are close enough to chat with from your porch, so not a great sense of privacy when you are outside if other people are near you on the beach. The unit itself was just plain strange. There are two bedrooms and two baths... but both baths were outside the bedrooms, adjacent to each other in a hallway. The kitchen and the dining table were outside on the porch, so shooing away flies was part of any food prep, but the refrigerator was inside, in a corner of the living room, with no counter or table nearby... so even making a sandwich entailed a lot of back and forth. The outdoor kitchen can be closed off with screened doors when not being used, which helps with the flies. The no-see-ums and flies are no worse than anywhere else right on the water, but they will be there - just keep some Off handy if they get pushy. The main bedroom was nicely sized, great closet and dresser, and nicely cooled by the A/C (which was in both bedrooms), but our bed was not good. A single coil spring matress on a slat platform. And it was well past it's expiration date, with plenty of dips and and squeaks. At $800 a night, I expect a really comfortable bed. The 2nd bedroom was tiny, so tiny it had no dresser, and the closet was not in the bedroom, but out in the common hall area, which made things a bit awkward. Bathrooms were acceptable, except for the shower set up. I promise you Motel 6 has better towels, soap and shower condiments. And what I don't understand is this is the cheapest thing to get right. Get a few refillable containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, invest in some fluffy towels, and this becomes a selling point instead of an embarrassment. I mentioned the pool, and it is nice. Seems new... not huge, but very pleasant... same depth everywhere (I think about 5 feet). It is located towards the back of the property, so no water view from the pool, but we spent some very relaxing hours floating there. I know it sounds like I'm breaking bad here, but we had a nice stay, Mary Beth found us a great driver to take us to dinner each night (Shout out to Clennell!). It's a solid 3

We just returned from a wonderful week after staying at this resort. Mary Beth was awesome in making sure we were comfortable. We booked our reservation just a few months before traveling but couldn't get an oceanfront room so we were at the back of the complex which was great too. On the day of our anniversary, I asked Mary Beth if anyone had checked out because I wanted to surprise my husband for the last 2 days staying in a beachfront room and she was able to find one that had just become available. Not only did she check for availability, she and her husband actually moved ALL of our stuff while we were at another beach for the day so I could surprise my husband when we returned. We arrived to find two chocolate cupcakes and a nice bottle of wine with a sweet card and fresh flowers! She always went above and beyond to take care of any of our wishes promptly. The complex is very well situated and private although the buildings are connected. The design of this resort is awesome. We had everything we needed and the beachfront units are definitely the way to book your trip! We definitely want to return to this island and hope we can plan ahead earlier in order to get one of these spectacular units but if not the others are great too.

This place is phenomenal! One of the highlights is the incredible team running the resort. Mary Beth and Lenny went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and their warm hospitality truly makes the experience special. We visited last weekend, and it was the perfect time to go—quiet and relaxing. We were especially fortunate that Lenny prepared a meal for us; he’s an outstanding chef who could easily run his own restaurant. It was the best meal we had on the island, and that says a lot given how great the local restaurants are. Overall, we had an amazing time and can’t wait to return!

What a fantastic stay! I've been twice but this time, a group of friends visited for a long weekend. Location is great...almost equally distanced from both sides of the island. Rooms comfortable. Great bathrooms. Views amazing. We were in a beachfront suite. Grounds beautiful. It's arranged in a way where you feel as if it's your own private beach property. Lots of beach water equipment for guests use. The ocean is yours. The pool is yours. A quite and secluded little piece of heaven. The best thing about this property are Lenny and Mary Beth. They are both warm and so helpful. Lenny is a chef and a couple in our group was surprised with the most amazing anniversary brunch! His skills in the kitchen are extraordinary. Visit this place! You won't be disappointed!

We loved every aspect of our time with Mango Bay Resort. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the villas and then settled down. Water was waiting for us, which was perfect as it was a hot day. We then took advantage of the beach right there, which we had to ourselves. We were able to use the paddle board, which was free, and then would head to the pool after the beach. Mary Beth and Lenny were the perfect hostesses, and even provided an amazing breakfast when they found out it was our anniversary. We would 100% recommend this place and will be coming back!

Property was nice but the hosts were the best! Even though we were unexpected guests, Mary Beth and Lenny went above and beyond to help make sure our 10yr wedding anniversary trip was a great one!! Going in the off season is nice because there are less people but FYI a lot of places are closed. I would recommend renting a car or having someone you can call for rides as it is a little ways from things.

My second time there because of the perfect Caribbean vibe! Laid back sophistication, tho it's missing a restaurant/bar, just for the convenience, because you truly never want to leave this tropical garden by the sea. But it isn't a deal breaker because there's no better place to be on Virgin Gorda! Ashley and her team created a beautiful beach dinner that we'll never forget!
