Boutique Wine Resort - Villa Dianella

Just back from a fantastic stay at Villa Dianella.. We were there for five nights but would have been happy to have stayed a fortnight. The hotel itself is gorgeous, beautifully styled all in keeping with its history as a Medici family hunting lodge. There is a lovely pool to help keep cool on hotter days. We also loved eating at the restaurant which is small enough to feel intimate though with expansive views across the vines and the valley. The wines themselves are exceptional - a complex but easy-drinking rose; fresh, acidic vermentino and full bodied reds that are so typical of the area. Lastly, a big shout out to the staff, including Manuel in the restaurant and Arsenio who took great pride in the huge plate of gluten free bread he delivered me every breakfast. Would go back every year if we could.

We stumbled upon this villa looking to avoid the hustle of Florence and what a gem this place is. The grounds, the personal chef and restaurant were amazing. Also, the staff here are incredible. They go out of their way to make you happy. Incredible!!

was attending a wedding at Villa Dianella. The location was beautiful and the food was great. Unfortunately I was not able to taste the wine, but heard a lot of praise. That being said, I have to add that the service by your staff was extremely underwhelming. At the beginning of lunch, our glasses were not filled so when the groom and bride finished their speeches we could not give a toast. Someone had to search for the staff to ask for something to drink. This situation continued and worsened enormously during the afternoon. In the evening, starting from about 6pm, the service crew was obviously hiding from us. Nobody was at the bar. We searched again and found them in the kitchen. We asked politely if someone could come down and prepare drinks for us. They were rolling their eyes at us, one man then came down. He was so unfriendly, I have no words for that. He left immediately after pouring one round. We had to go behind the bar then and prepare our own drinks. For the last hour, him and a waitress reappeared, but not at the bar. They were standing at the end of the room with arms crossed in front of their chest and such annoyed expressions. They were glaring at us the whole time. Many guests were irritated and felt like intruders to this place. We had to leave at 21.40, because they told us abruptly to stop the music and go home. Before we left, I told the two staff members that their behavior during the whole evening had been very irritating. They told me that they were tired and wanted us to leave because they had to start work at 7am. I understand that this is hard work and can be exhausting. But this is not the fault of the guests and the couple who chose your place to celebrate the greatest day of their lives.
