Halibut Hotel

I was very nervous about this hotel based on the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! Check in was smooth. The rooms were varied. Overall a little small, but totally fine. The bed was comfy and there was a fridge and an iron. The air conditioner worked well and was easy to use. The bathroom was huge and beautiful! My room only had a tiny window, but others seemed brighter. Mine was toward the back so I didn't get any noise from the pool, but some of my colleagues did. The pool area is gorgeous! We didn't really get to enjoy it because it was a work trip, but it looked so nice. They even have built-in lounge chairs in the water and a swim up bar. They also have showers by the pool. They have a meeting room upstairs which they kindly let us use whenever we needed it, since it wasn't booked. Breakfast was ok. Every morning they had fruit, bread, pancakes, and cheese. Then you could order eggs. They were able to organize a buffet dinner for our group both nights that we were there. It was pretty tasty! We didn't experience any of the security issues mentioned in other reviews and never felt unsafe. We didn't go walking around the neighborhood, though. Overall, I'd stay here again!

I paid $584.00 for a room which I did not sleep in, because I was warned that the area was not safe. They would not refund me any of my deposit. I stayed in Punta Cana instead. Do not trust ******* to find a safe hotel, is my opinion, because they do not investigate the reviews or the area they recommend.

Do not travel here! Very sketchy location. We were forced to come her due to cancelled flights, the airport staff and airline made this accommodation. The hotel staff was very kind and tried however when we came upon the hotel we knew we were in a rough situation. To start there were guards unloading us off the bus in an alley looking lot and the bus driver hurried to get away. Once we got in the guard quickly locked the door and we were bombarded by staff who aggressively and quickly wanted to get our belongings upstairs. I will list other issues below we encountered before our 11:15 pick up. -A Dead Roach in the room -No hot water in any of the rooms -All locks broken on 300 hallway (5/5 rooms for sure we knew of) -Towels old (once white) now grayish -Gun shots next to building 2 -Very thin hallway walls -Airline paying for food however served prison sandwiches with a dine size amount of ketchup. -There were 0 other guests staying there. -There was some sort of party with music in the back of the hotel during our stay. - Lastly, for whatever reason we could not congregate in the lobby. no sitting and talking in sight of doors, it was clear they wanted no one to see us and that we were in a dangerous situation. Halibut hotel I would like to start by saying that the staff is very courteous, polite & helpful. They’re beautiful people. I would like to thank Moises, he treated us very nice. As soon as we arrived and saw the electric fence I knew we were in a dangerous neighborhood, it’s all fenced in and it has a private parking lot with a guard. We weren’t able to enter through the main doors because of danger in the area, we had to enter through the parking lot. The hotel is small, it was very clean. We stayed in a standard room queen size bed # 2302, the room was super tiny and super uncomfortable, the room had several issues. They try to fix all issues right away but the room needs attention. There was no hot water, in order to get hot water I had to open the sink faucet let the water run for a while and eventually I would get hot water in the shower. Our door lock was broken, they changed it. The mini-fridge barely worked The room would get extremely humid. No fan in the bathroom. AC was good. Mattress, pillows and linens seemed new, but very low quality. Towels were limited and rough. Room amenities are very basic. Balcony is tiny. The bed is mounted on a wood base and we kept on hitting our feet with it. Lobby, pool and common areas are beautiful. Food at the restaurant was ok. Not too many options on their breakfast. If there was people in the hall speaking we could hear like if it was inside our room. At checkout we couldn’t leave until they checked our room and make sure nothing was stolen or damaged.
