Conversas de Alpendre

Very expensive stay for an apartment that lacked several key utensils (including a bottle opener - we borrowed one from the bar but were rather abruptly told to bring it straight back after use) and was worn (stained linen on chairs) in places. Pool is missing several tiles which resulted in injury to one adult's foot. Breakfast was nice but same every day. We stayed in far less expensive places during our tour of Algarve which were much nicer.

It was a very mixed bag for us. Some outstanding moments and some not so good. The breakfast and food in general was outstanding. The chef was also very accommodating to any request made. We loved it. The outdoor area is beautiful with tons of Character and lots of space . However with summers come kids and the pool was mostly inaccessible due to high occupation rate with youngsters. The website pictures can be a bit misleading. The jacuzzi room is tiny ( it does say 17sq meter, so my bad for missing this bit of info) and hardly has enough room to store luggage or clothes. Barely enough clearance from shower door or toilet door. . The picture shown definitely not reflecting that. It does not have the openness feel you anticipated. It also now has a structure outside the room and patio that create a sense of closeness. And forget the jacuzzi. It was blurry and not real jets. The shutters don’t close. So yes not the romantic room you may have in mind. We met some wonderful staff that would go to any length of effort to make you happy and some not so much, almost snappy. Bottom line, it was not an experience commensurate with the price paid, and would say proceed with caution.

A truly magnificent experience away from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas. We stayed in the Warehouse Suite which was decorated superbly, nice and secluded and 30 seconds from the main site. With only 15 rooms/suites this truly is a getaway that will not be forgotten. The staff are attentive and beyond helpful, taxis, boat trips, dinner… everything is a well deserved 5 stars. Breakfast is fabulous with such an amazing array of treats served to you in the sunshine overlooking the estate. The dinner experience is equally as fantastic, no menu just choose your protein (ie fish, meat etc) and you are served a surprise meal. Highly recommended. We've just finished a three day, two night mini break here and couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel extremely welcome and all staff were very friendly and happy to help whenever needed. The hotel is small and intimate so at no point do you feel it is busy and relaxation is very easy, whether it be around the pool, by your room or in the garden areas. The attention to detail is fantastic both in room and in the shared areas and it was interesting to hear from Marta (owner) how they continually look to improve year on year. We stayed in the No Stress room which had its own terrace and jacuzzi. The room was very clean and comfortable with some lovely homely touches. The food was exceptional. Breakfast each day included local breads, cheeses, meats, yoghurt, homemade granola, honey, homemade jam, fresh juices, a choice of eggs, pancakes. All delicious. We ate from the all day snack menu for lunch at various times, with our choices being sharing platters, burgers, fish and chips, and again, all of a very high standard. Both nights we ate the surprise set menu, a three course delight of local flavours where you just choose your main protein and identify any allergies or dislikes beforehand. More local breads along with olive oil for dipping and marinated olives meant we were satisfyingly stuffed at the end. The drinks choices were very good and we enjoyed local beer, wine and well made cocktails, all for very reasonable prices. There is an outdoor bar where you can sit on seats or swings whilst enjoying your tipple of choice and the views down towards the coast. We spent most of our time relaxing on-site, but did make use of the transfer service to make the 5 minute journey to Fabrica to take in the incredible beach for a few hours. We can't recommend Conversas de Alpendre highly enough. We hope to be back with our children / family / friends at some point in the future! Words fail to describe what makes this place so magical. It's a vibe you feel upon check in. Super relaxing stay located on exquisite grounds. Similar to a Relaix Chateau property without the over fussy feel. More friendly but every bit as detailed about our care. The staff has endless patience, well appointed rooms with candles that are lit at dusk to twinkle welcome you back to your room after an evening, a very talented farm-to-table oriented menu showcasing local delights that all added up for a perfect stay while we attended a spectacular wedding nearby. We stayed in the room No Stress which has an amazing view of the orchards, and the bluest ocean beyond. Simply magical any time of day. It also features a hot tub in the patio area. but it wasn't that private since guests using the covered lanai pool area could easily see into our patio area and into our room when the door was open. The room is a little small with the bathroom and shower snuggly fit. But it didn't dampen our experience...we will simply try a larger room when we return! We didn't want to leave! Til next time...... obrigada!!!

We stayed at Conversas de Alpendre for a week in April 2022. It truely was the most magical place we stayed at in a very long time. Of course, the location is beautiful and quiet, the breakfast and dinner delicious and the room carefully decorated and meticulously clean. However, that was not what made the biggest difference. The most wonderful was the staff. All of them are taking hospitality to a next level. They gave you such a genuine and warm welcome and we only really realised then how strongly this contributed to the best holiday feeling ever. Thank you so much to Marta and her entire team! We will definitly be back.
