Pizzomunno Vieste Palace Hotel

This large hotel occupies a space which extends from the beautiful beach right back over some serious gardens on the opposite side of the main road. The exterior of the building looks quite modern but inside, it harks back to an older, very elegant past with its sweeping staircase, leather sofas and polished wood surfaces. although we arrived pretty late on a Friday evening after a long day's travelling - including driving through the pitch darkness on a very twisty, winding road - the staff were welcoming and quickly arranged for us to eat in their beach-side restaurant. The interior restaurant is large and, again, elegant, yet despite the fact there were at least two sizeable tour groups, the service was efficient and coped well with the rapid turnover. The breakfast buffet was extensive with a well-balanced mixture of sweet and savoury items which was replenished regularly. Our bedroom was of a good size with a comfortable bed, soft bathrobe, slippers and the usual array of toiletries and provided us with a good night's sleep. We ate in the beach-side restaurant on the following two evenings and the food on each occasion was delicious. Access to this area is via a short underpass which avoids the need to cross the busy main road into the town and the beach itself is well supplied with sunloungers and umbrellas. Some information on how the allocation of the sun loungers works would be helpful, however, perhaps in the information pack in the room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and left feeling relaxed after our somewhat stressful arrival.

I’m just finishing a stay at this hotel with Riviera Travel. I can honestly say it’s been a lovely experience. The location is good. About a 10min walk into the pretty old town, with lots of bars and restaurants, or 15mins to the beach. The room was large enough for our needs, with a small balcony containing a table and a couple of chairs. The beds were comfy with great memory foam pillows and the air con was very quiet and efficient. All the staff have been very friendly and smiley, nothing seems to be too much trouble!. Food wise there was a large, varied antipasti buffet every night, then primi and secondi courses were ordered from the menu. The main reason I am posting this review though, is because of the help and care that was taken in ensuring my cream and gluten-free needs were met. The restaurant manager, Gianni, was extremely helpful and made sure I was fully aware of what I could and couldn’t eat. There were gf croissants, bread, cakes, desserts, pasta etc lactose free, almond, oat and soya milk. They even prepared a separate plate of food for me at the Riviera leaving drinks. It all made for a very pleasant, stress free stay.

I can’t see where were the 4 stars???? Starts with that the hotel seems to be only for Italian customers as no one could speak English. Toilet was poorly cleaned. During our stay (4 days), our room was cleaned only once. Mini bar (fridge) not working at all. There isn’t iron available, not even if you ask Recepction for one. There was dusty everywhere. No wifi available, even reception while trying to use my own data was not working. TV not working. Swimming pool has restricted opening times (9:30am to 12:30 - 3:30pm to 6:30pm). Food some days was ok but could have some improvements. Mainly pasta, no salad available on the menu. If you want to have a coffee while having dessert, you will be told that they don’t serve coffee in the restaurant. It feels like that the place is stuck in the 90s. The hotel is also quite far from the beach.
