First the location is so central and you can get anywhere very easily. The ring tram is one block from entry. The hotel and rooms are stunningly gorgeous. The room that we stayed in is so spacious. It had one bedroom, kitchenette, full dining room, entry and a full bath with walk-in shower and a second half bath. The bedding is very luxurious with soft down pillows and comforter. The blanket is also soft down and very comforting. The people working here are amazingly helpful and kind. All of them. Whoever does the hiring should be praised. Gunther is real gentleman and his only interest is to make our stay comfortable and welcome. His team at the front desk, Tamara, Franziska and new trainee, Ana are the day crew. The were so helpful in so many ways. Always available and willing to do anything and everything for us. The night crew, Yusef and Zeljko took care of a few minoradjustments even late as we were checkin in. Sasha and Kornel were in charge of greeting people at the door. They were such nice gentlemen. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Ashish was also really nice and helpful. I hope that I have not left anyone out because they all contributed to making sure our stay was so good. The people who took care of the rooms have done superb job. I had the good fortune to attend a private wine tasting in their cellar. For those who don’t know Palais Coburg actually has the largest wine collection of the greatest wines in the world. I cannot remember if it 30,000 or 60,000 bottles. Niklas who did the tour for me is a young sommelier who knows a lot. He also works in the 2 Michlin star restaurant on the premises. He guided me magnificently. He tells the whole story of the rebirth of Palais Coburg by the new owner. “You get treated like royalty staying here. We LOVED staying here.

During our six-night stay at this hotel in July 2023, we had high expectations of a luxurious experience. However, the room quality proved to be far from what we anticipated, and it significantly impacted our vacation. Negative Aspects of the Room: The first impression of the hotel was positive, but as our stay progressed, we encountered numerous issues with the rooms: Malfunctioning reading lamp: One night, we discovered that the reading lamp was not working, and despite reporting the issue, it couldn't be fixed promptly. Non-functional phone hand-set: The phone in our room was unusable, forcing us to call reception through the base set with a speaker, which was inconvenient. Unstable and noisy beds: While the beds were comfortable, they were unfortunately unstable and produced bothersome noises with the slightest movement. Lack of curtains: Instead of curtains, the room had grey metal walls to darken the space, which gave the room a cold ambiance. Absence of carpets: The absence of carpets and the presence of only a grey or white surface added to the room's lack of warmth and comfort. Complicated room design: The design featured a moving door separating the shower from the living area, which never closed entirely, requiring constant adjustments to ensure privacy. Inconvenient towel placement: Towels were placed inside the bath, making it difficult to access them without having to climb inside or open the separation wall at a specific location. Tiny sinks: The sinks were so small that using them often resulted in water spraying back and leaving us wet. Confusing AC usage: Understanding whether the AC was on, off, or just ventilating proved to be challenging, as we had to rely solely on the sound it made. Water supply disruption: We got a notice one day prior, that a complete shutdown of water supply is planned for 3 hours from 10:30-13:30. Random light switches: The room was filled with light switches, and some of them worked unpredictably, controlling whichever light without any discernible logic. Insufficient lighting: Despite all lights being on, the room remained dark, making it uncomfortable for various activities. Despite the room issues, there were some positive aspects of our stay: Reception staff: The staff at the reception was commendable in their efforts to accommodate us. They were kind, attentive, and clearly well-trained in providing good service. They offered us several rooms, but there was nothing they could do as all rooms we saw had more or less the same problems. Breakfast: The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, and most of the time, the breakfast staff provided excellent service. Location: Prime location near Donaukanal and 5 minutes walk from the Schwedenplatz metro station. It is within walking distance to Stephansplatz. The area feels safe and friendly at night. The sum it up I would not recommend a long stay at this hotel because of the rooms' low quality and the cold, dark, complicated

Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier Wien

Vienna|0.45km from Weinzirl - Restaurant im Wiener Konzerthaus
We had one night in Vienna with an early flight the next morning, but not wanting to stay in an airport hotel I chose this hotel based on price and location, as it was a short walking distance to Wien Mitte, which runs plenty of trips to the airport, even at 4.30am! Also, as an Accor Gold member I thought I might get an upgrade on my room.

The first thing to say is that this is far from your typical hotel, set back from the road down an alley. If I was arriving at night time I may have been more concerned than I was. Even in daylight it took a minute or two to find the reception, but when I did I got a very good welcome by the member of staff who acknowledged my status. With our room key in hand we headed off to the elevators and climbed out at the third floor. Then we had to walk around a corner to find a small set of stairs, so up those, down a long corridor to find a sign pointing us to another set of stairs that took us up another floor. After a good bit of walking, that would be unsuitable for anyone with movement difficulties, we reached our room. We had reserved a twin room and that’s what we got, although the beds were at a right angle to each other, something I don’t remember seeing anywhere else before and were not as wide as most twin beds that you find elsewhere. The room looked quaint and I thought it was fun until I walked into the bathroom to discover that that bath and shower were also built into the eaves, meaning that standing up in the shower was a physical impossibility! I know what you’re thinking … ‘if unhappy with the room, why not go and ask to change rooms?!’ It is a good point, but the walk to and from the room, plus the fact we only ha a couple of hours to go out and see the city (added to early morning start) meant I just didn’t want to waste the time. Be assured, had we arrived in the morning, or had we been staying for more than one night there is absolutely no way I would have accepted this room. Climbing carefully into a bath to have a shower sitting down is not my idea of fun! It also would not be possible for anyone with movement difficulties to use this. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is in a decent location for Wien Mitte - roughly a ten minute walk with suitcases. A little less without. There are also quite a few eating options in the area. Sitting in the hotel courtyard area is quite relaxing, although you have no view and the sunshine is totally blocked out. I am afraid that apart from being a ‘quirky and cute’ hotel, plus the fact that all the staff we met were polite and professional, there is very little to recommend staying here. I for one will not be staying here again.

The service at the Marriott was excellent, the rooms were immaculate, there is a large indoor heated pool we enjoyed, there were lots of people at the front desk and it has a great location. The hop on hop off bus stops at the front door, it is walking distance to Mozart's house and the magnificent St. Stephen's cathedral, the hofburg with the imperial apartments, the Spanish riding school, cici museum, the royal Treasury with the crown jewels, and the Jewish museum. There are lots of fine shops and a variety of restaurants in the area as well as a pedestrian shopping area. We were disappointed with lunch at the Garden cafe but there are other places to dine. We will definitely return when we are in the area again.

I have been to Hotel Austria twice, both for the Christmas holidays when the nearby Rotenturmstrasse was decorated with its huge red balls. The location is not just convenient to two subway lines, but also a really short walking distance--10 minutes to Stephansdom. There is a Spar Gourmet right across the street and many shops and restaurants near by (check out the Cafe Diglas) as the area is itself technically in the Inner Stadt (city center). But what really stands out is how eager to please the staff is. The first time I visited it was so long ago there were no smartphones, but the front desk always gave us accurate and easy directions to all locations we wanted. Clean, warm, and in a quiet corner tucked away from the main street, it is a real gem

The location is good. Everyone at the front desk and butler was very kind. Breakfast is very suitable with lettuce and young leaves, because the only green vegetable is cucumber. When I explained that I couldn't eat breakfast because I left early the next morning, I was grateful to try to provide a simple breakfast, but for me, it was too early in the morning. I heard that my friend lives in a nearby hotel. Instead of eating breakfast, he eats fruit and lunch, so if there is such a service, it would be better. I live alone, so I am glad to hear from you at the front desk. Thank you for your help.
