Our Hostel is situated in a highly desirable area where everything that makes Vienna unique is condensed into an intimate, cozy neighborhood: Stylish architecture meets hippie scene meets multicultural flair all in Austria's largest city. Naschmarkt is the name of Vienna's largest open-air-market where you will find exotic spices and specialties from all across the world ranging from budget-friendly to uber fancy - as well as a diverse crowd enjoying a drink or two while taking in the scenery.
In addition to that, the Naschmarkt hosts a flea market each Saturday, perfect for acquiring rarities, antiques and other extravagant travel souvenirs.
Our Wombat's City Hostel Vienna is situated in a lovely Art-Nouveau building constructed in the early 1900's during the Fin de Siecle. Behind the historic facade you will find modern, ensuite rooms stretching across five floors.
Our very own Wombat's Cafe (unique Wombat's Roast included) and the legendary WomBAR might compel you to never even leave the place, but that would be a shame as the city is right at your doorstep!
A stroll along the Naschmarkt, passing the beautiful historic buildings will take you straight to Karlsplatz with the adjacent State Opera and the well-preserved, incredibly chic old town. The immediate surroundings of the Naschmarkt host some of the most hip and lively neighbourhoods in the entire city where Clubs, Bars, Cafes and Restaurants line up right next to each other, ensuring both a wild night out as well as a nice dinner are just a minute's walk away.
If you want to cover more distance, our hostel is perfectly situated just across the street from the metro station which provides an efficient link to everything from the world-famous Schönbrunn Castle to the Viennese Airport.

Very strategic location, right next to hypermarkets and walking distance to Naschmarkt. Very well equipped guest kitchen. But no aircond in the room, quite humid in the afternoon during summer. Room light is dim.

Everything is fine but it's extremely hot during summer. I woke up several times at night just because how hot it was. The fan did't really help.

Wombat is an amazing hostel to meet new people as it attracts a lot of young travelers that usually might be looking to meet new people back, and the place was convenient too, I didn’t appreciate though that I had to make my bed and after leaving remove the bed sheets and drop them off at check off, I didn’t mind the process at all, I just think it was an indication of poor amenities, also the bed and the blanket under the bed sheets smelled quite a lot! That was my only downside. Other than that everything was amazing, the staff was very helpful and sweet, met nice people, I would stay again it was worth it

You have to use a pay storage locker to leave your baggage before check-in or after check-out. Lockers are pre-paid and cannot be opened until you pay, so you don't know the exact capacity of each locker before payment. It's also inconvenient that you have to choose the time of use in advance (2 hours, 6 hours, 24 hours).
In a dormitory, there were tiny bed booths with a fan, but in the upper booth, the fan is at the entrance of the bed booth, which blocks you from going in (it's even dangerous when you go down). The walls of the booth were metal, so there was always a big noise when someone bumped against the wall. You can choose a bed whichever you like, which means you are most likely to have no choice when you check-in late.
All in all, the quality was not what I paid for.

NEVER BOOK THIS HOSTEL. WE HAD OUR MONEY STOLEN!!!
We booked a private room which was supposed to be safer. We were not notified that there is cleaning service and left our valuables unattended during the day. When we got back, we realized that some cash was missing from our valuables, meaning the cleaning staff likely stole it.
Terrible experience!!! Still waiting for the hostel’s reply.

It was a good hostel in every aspect. I definitely recommend this. The bed was comfortable. They have privacy curtains. Each person has a small fan inside the bed which is super good as it can get hot sometimes. There is a small lock near the bed and a separate locker for your things. You can use your card to access these lockers. The bathrooms were also very clean and plenty. The kitchen was super good and clean and they provided free coffee. There is also a walk-in tour arranged by the hostel which is a tip-based tour. I did not find a single negative point in this hostel.
