Great stay.
Knotty Pine Cottages, Suites & Motel Rooms

We absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed in one of the Sunset Cabins, and would highly recommend. Our cabin was clean and so beautiful inside — to say nothing of the unbelievable view outside the floor to ceiling windows! Our cabin didn’t have a full kitchenette (which we knew upon booking) but was stocked with virtually anything (and more) you’d need — coffee/maker, a fridge, cutlery, plates, wine glasses, napkins, etc. Check-in and out was so easy, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The bed was really comfortable. And while there isn’t a full restaurant, we were able to get pizza for dinner, and homemade pie — they also had breakfast sandwiches and a few other items available. Would absolutely stay here again.

The rooms are clean, spacious, quiet and what a beautiful view looking over Barre D'or Lake Liquor/variety store and Restaurant/Bar on premises. Food is great and reasonable. Buffet daily. Beds are comfy. A/C works exceptionally well. Had to turn that off. Brrr! Beautiful place. Highly recommend Booked an additional night due to location and serenity.
Kelly's View Motel

A 14 room motel with a house attached to it. Motel is named after the mountain right across from the motel on the other side. The door to our room is a bit hard to open, needs a strong push to open it. We got Room #5. The room is spacious and smells a bit weird. The bathroom is an alright size. The windows are full length. There's wifi here, though the strength of the wifi gets weaker the farther you are away from the main reception area. There's only 3 light sources in the room, excluding the 1 light in the bathroom. It's rather dim. There's no AC, there's a fan in the room. The screen for the window is broken, so a huge bug got in. The walls are thin. You can hear the flush of the toilet and probably the sound of the shower too. While showering, the water kept on turning cool even though I had it turned on the hot water side. The toilet is broken. It won't flush. The bed is really hard. Great for people who like hard beds. Not great for people who can't sleep on hard beds. Everyone else slept alright. My back hurts. It's good that we only stayed here for 1 night. Staying for 1 night here is enough. Wouldn't recommend staying here any longer.
Telegraph House Motel

This was a lovely historic building with a good location. The building itself and our room on the third floor was everything we had been led to expect. As an old building the climb to the top could be challenge for some, and we made sure not to haul our suitcases all the way up, but instead just unpacked the things we needed for one night. The room was clean and bright with uneven floors and a nice balcony. It was a bit noisy in the evening as every footstep in the hall could be heard I. The room but luckily most people went to bed fairly relatively early. It’s important to make reservations If you want to have dinner at the restaurant. We did so and very much enjoyed our meal. Only one small glitch was that the toilet in the bathroom made dripping or running noises that were a bit annoying. But the staff were very responsive the next morning and I trust they will have that fixed for the next guests. We love this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Given that we were on the third floor it would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room, but we also appreciated that Coffee was available at the reception desk in the morning. One interesting titbit of information was that Alexander Graham Bell and his wife stayed here back in the day And their room is still decorated in the fashion. It was at the time. It is room number one and we were lucky enough to be able to peak in and take a look at the room in the morning after the previous guests had checked out.
Trailsman Lodge

The Trailsman Lodge was way better than I expected based on some of the recent negative reviews. I spent 3 wonderful nights here exploring Baddeck, the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton island; the reviewer who claimed they couldn't see the lake from a lake view room must've arrived and left in the dark : you couldn't be any closer to the lake, and even if you can't see it from your room, it's right outside at breakfast. At this time of year, the many geese had numerous cute little babies to look at on the lawn that gently slopes down from the deck to the lake, which is beautiful. The room itself was quiet and comfortable, with two queen beds, a couple of lovely armchairs and some outside red chairs on the deck overlooking the views. It has all the normal facilities you'd expect, such as large fridge, coffee machine, lots of wardrobe hanging space, ironing board, large flatscreen TV etc. The bathroom was beautifully tiled, with fabulous shower pressure, a hair dryer and plenty of room around the washbasin for your toiletries. Maybe this is a seasonal thing: breakfast was table service, so you could order what you wanted and it was brought to you : delicious banana cake and fruits, as well as bacon, sausage, toasts, hashbrowns and the best scrambled eggs I had during a 12 day trip around NS,NB & PEI. There was also cereals and choices of coffee and juice. So, absolutely no complaints or issues at all : I would happily stay here again!
