We just want to say a massive vinaka vakalevu (thank you) to Jo, Hannah, and the entire team for making our stay at the Wellesley Resort truly unforgettable. We were only there for three nights, but the resort and its people left a lasting impression on us — the kind of experience you carry with you long after you return home. We’ve only been back a few days, yet we can’t stop sharing with friends and family how special our time was. I don’t usually write long reviews, but the Wellesley absolutely deserves it. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had found a second home. This isn’t a party resort — it’s calm, peaceful, and pristine, with a breathtaking private beach just steps away. It’s the perfect escape for anyone looking to truly relax, recharge, and experience the natural beauty of Fiji. The food? Absolutely sensational. Every single dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, everything far exceeded our expectations. It was much better than most of what we get served back home! The food is fresh and prepared with care and love by two awesome chefs! The puddings and tropical fruits at breakfast were my girlfriend’s highlight (along with the curries and pasta dishes), while I couldn’t get enough of the pancakes, fresh fish, and curries. Every meal felt like a treat. What makes the Wellesley truly unique, though, is its connection to the local community. Many of the staff come from nearby villages, which gives guests an authentic cultural experience you won’t find at larger resorts. Beyond amazing excursions like Cloud 9, Malamala Beach Club, or a South Sea Sailing adventure, it was the time spent with local people that changed us forever. Playing rugby on the beach with children, being welcomed into a Sunday church service (by invitation), sharing meals with families in their homes, and learning about Fijian traditions — from kava ceremonies to fishing practices — were experiences we will treasure for the rest of our lives. One small tip for future guests: if you can, bring clothes, school supplies, or small items to donate to the village. It’s a simple gesture that makes a huge impact, and many travelers we met wished they had thought to bring something. To Jo, Hannah, the wonderful staff, and the warm-hearted community of Namaquamaqua — vinaka vakalevu. Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and for welcoming us into your world. Our stay at the Wellesley wasn’t just a holiday — it was life-changing. In just three nights, we learned so much about happiness, connection, and what truly matters. There were many happy tears, and no doubt there will be more when we return. We can only hope the Wellesley never changes — it’s a rare gem that offers more than just luxury; it offers meaning. We can’t wait to come back and create even more memories. Sota tale ♥

Our time at the Wellesley was my favourite part about our trip to Fiji. The room was gorgeous, spacious, clean with all the amenities you could need. The resort as a whole was breathtaking, with incredibly meticulous tropical landscaping and a view of the reef from the pool and restaurant that would make you shed a tear at dinner time. But all of that was shadowed by the elite level service we recieved by the staff on site. The chef, Raj, took in to consideration our vegetarian dietary requirements and stunned us with mouth watering food everyday. No meal was exactly the same - a true master of his craft. The wait staff Loslini and Andi

Sadly the resort does not sell alcohol and there is no mention of this on booking. Most people do not go to a beach resort to drink water or sugary drinks The road in is a shocker in torrential rain as we experienced Crusoes next door is a much better option The staff member from Savusavu who was trying to lift the property to an acceptable level was an amazing trier however he was always struggling with the local staff The beverage take alone would be worth quarter of a million in revenue I won’t return

The Wellesley was a lovely resort where the staff are trying their best and meals are lovely however the rooms are quite basic and could be cleaner. It’s great if you are looking to detach from technology and just enjoy the beach, but it is quite far from anything else and there isn’t much cell service. All in all if you’re looking for a private small getaway it’s a nice place to stay.

Alcohol free resort! Lovely spot. Driving in was difficult due to heavy rain and condition of the driveway. Was very surprised to find out when we arrived that this is an alcohol free resort due to owners religious beliefs. This was not communicated anywhere when booking. Very disappointing and not what you expect for an adults only resort.

The resort/facilities are in a great and tidy shape. Food was delicious, served by lovely staff. Loved walking all the way to the beach, kayaking and swimming. The picturesque and pristine view of the sea through the trees from the restaurant just awesome. Wellesley is the place to be for cozy, private, relaxing, green and natural getaway...

The resort is beautiful. Riz and his staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean. The pool was pristine and the gardens green and lush. The beach is a short walk away and is a safe spot to swim. The food was great and I especially loved breakfast.

Beautiful surprise oasis right in valley of lush gardens. Peaceful kid-free property perfect for relaxing holiday. Bring a book to laze by the tropical pool or kayak off beach. Hands on manager Riz lovely and restaurant Jack ensures dining experience perfect with welcoming smile and nice fresh food options. Enjoyed bushwalking and fishing with local employee. Perfect spot to recharge battery. Thanks Wellesley team for a beautiful escape holiday!

this is the second time i have been to this property, i love the way this place makes me feel. if you are after a small, quiet resort you can enjoy the beach, bush, pool & restaurant in peace and quiet, lots of time to read books, enjoy the beach, feel local (next to the village) yet totally secluded this is the place for you. internet access is average, and you may not have a TV in your room, but you don't come here for the technology, you come to re-center and relax. food is okay (gets boring quickly) bring LOTS of snacks, fruit, drinks (incl. water) and your own milk for your room. yes, the breakfast is small but i personally loved the porridge and fresh fruit each morning. yes, the place needs a bit of a re-fresh (the air-conditioning desperately needs servicing) and it would be nice if they got some new kayaks, and snorkeling gear. if you want the big resort stuff, like big breakfasts & daily activities, go and stay at a big resort. if you want peace, come here.
