The New Post Office

We booked this hotel several months ago and followed up to make sure that we could stay on a lower level since a family member has difficulty with stairs. We were given a room that was up 23 stairs and down a long hallway. Couldn’t have given us a worse room to stay in.

Comfortable and relatively spacious for 2 travelers to the Westmann Islands. New facility and well maintained. Check in team was friendly and welcoming. Listen to their directions on where to park to access the building. Good value at the height of the season. Within short waking distance to shops and restaurants.

I did not receive the email with check in instructions that ******* said would come, but there was a sign on the door directing us to the hotel next door for questions and the woman at the front desk was one of the most pleasant people I have ever encountered and she straightened things out immediately.

This hotel is right beside the ferry terminal and easy to walk to places.

It’s a large room, for it to be on such a tiny island. The room has all the facilities you’d want including oven and fridge. There is no microwave included. Parking is free. This is basically an extension of the main Vestmannaeyjar hotel. Breakfast was included but expensive, we just got our bread and essentials from the close by Kronan. It is centrally located in the main town - walking distance to many trails and restaurants. We enjoyed a relatively cheap, but delicious meal at Ranya restaurant which was awesome Kurdish food. A few things - one of the three rooms we booked had a broken shower faucet and broken blinds. It wasn’t a huge issue for us, as we had 2 other fully functional washrooms. All standard rooms come with one queen bed, but the 2nd bed is a sofa-bed. This was creaky, and quite uncomfortable. Thankfully we were tired beyond belief, and slept like logs. Check out was at 11, but we requested a slightly later checkout at 12 which the hotel happily obliged. Finally, like all hotels in Iceland - this has no AC, and with the heat cranked up it gets hot in the night. So keep windows open, and dress lightly in the night as a recommendation from us!

Great stay in the Islands We had a wonderful experience. We really liked the apartment. Is was just what we needed and were expecting for our trip.
