This wonderful inn and restaurant was our home base for 2 days while touring around the South Coast of Iceland. We stayed in one of the apartments, which are in a detached building across the parking lot from the main house/restaurant. The apartment had everything we needed inside and was clean and comfortable. The outside/setting is like being in a fairy tale- surrounded by mountain, small church up the street, horses and sheep roaming behind a fence nearby. As we relaxed in the wonderfully hot spa outside of the apartments, all we could hear were the birds and the bleating of the nearby sheep. It was the perfect way to relax after a day of hiking at the nearby waterfalls. Both Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls are very nearby and the town of Vik and the black sand beaches are about an hour's drive away. The main house is old fashioned and charming. There is the history of Anna of Moldnupi throughout the house, which is fascinating, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We added the breakfast with our room and it was well worth it- a wide variety of food. We had dinner in the dining room one of the nights we were there and it was one of the best meals of our trip to Iceland. The chocolate mousse for dessert was amazing!

Drove in on a rainy afternoon and really needed to freshen up some clothes in my luggage. Went to reception and they said they had a washing machine onsite - mostly for the camping guests. They gave me change and I went down and tried the machine with no luck. Tried for a good 10 minutes. Could have been the machine but could have been the operator too! When I came back to the front desk to tell them about my troubles they offered to just do my laundry for me. Then I picked it up before we ate dinner at the restaurant onsite. Not sure how often they do that but it was very helpful that they were accommodating to my needs. Room was also very clean and the bed was cozy. Restaurant onsite was great too, food/service were top notch.

We stayed here only one night and arrived really late, however the manager at reception waited for us until we arrived and reserved a parking space for us. The room was spacious even though it was small and had all the essentials including kettle/ tea/coffee. We slept really well as the beds were comfy. The bathroom was small and dated but we were happy that it was clean and spotless. The breakfast was the best! It was a smorgasbord of Icelandic and non Icelandic delicacies. From the three hotels we stayed at in Iceland, by far they had the best breakfast options. The staff were extremely polite. We enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely come back again.
