Why did my previously entered review disappeared? Was there originally in Oct 2023. Spent two nights here and received excellent support as I was recovering from very bad food poisoning from a nearby restaurant. The staff was quick to check on me regularly (I was alone) and made sure the doctor was able to contact me. They allowed me to get into a room before check-in time as I was barely able to stand up by the time I got there (after a visit to ER to get some medicine). Someone else on the tour I was on woke up covered with bed bug bites while I was free from having any. When she showed the front staff all of her bites, they basically ignored her. Not a good sign. I feel ambivalent about this as I was treated very well, my room was clean, quiet, and spared of any bugs. She had a completely different experience (which couldn't be faked - she didn't have these bug bites days prior). Breakfast was your typical European choice of breads, jams, cheeses, juices, yogurts, etc. I was too sick to eat but was at least able to drink a bit to stay hydrated. I loved the old feel of the place and had a good experience with the staff but I’m not sure I’d go back considering the bed bug problem.

We stayed in the suite as it was booked a few hours before on the day, and only one left. It seems it was most expensive, but,lovely with a terrace and views from all windows... even the bathroom. Nice bathroom, by the way. Place has a lift, unlike a lot of places we stayed in, so we were spared carrying our stuff for three floors! Gorgeous paintings on the walls. Friendly service, nice continental breakfast and a great restaurant attached to it. The restaurant gets busy on weekends, so book ahead as on the first night, we couldn't get a table for lunch. The building is a lovely old building with gorgeous gardens. Was very peaceful...we came for one and extended.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, from 19-22 September. The hotel has a somewhat dated, but very characteristic atmosphere. The staff proved very helpful in getting us the best room we liked. In the previous review (of Sep 8) a former guest mentioned 'bed bugs', but we (and the other guests) have not experienced these. The rooms were spacious. During our last night in the hotel we experienced a false fire-alarm. The hotel staff has very kindly reacted to that by offering us s significant reduction to the agreed tariffs and costs for meals. Breakfast and meals were excellent.

The hotel looks great online and when you arrive, it also looks pretty nice. However, on closer inspection it's a bit dirty. My room hadn't been hoovered and there were bottle tops on the floor from the previous guest. I was woken at 2am by bed bugs crawling over me! My colleague was staying in this hotel at the same time and had a similar experience. A real shame as this could be nice.
