You want a place where you can literally escape into tranquility from all the hubub of everyday life? Lisle Combe is the place to stay. Peace and quiet personified. Nothing is too much trouble for Ruth and Robert, and they give you a very warm welcome. The house exudes history, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are fabulous!

We needed somewhere to stay as we were here for The Isle of Wight festival and we found it really hard to find somewhere that was affordable, people simply charge what they want a supply and demand thing going on but we found this little gem and were so pleased, we did book last year and the cost was really good. In fairness we are two people in our fifties that are runners so the walk of 25-30 minutes was not an issue for us it is very hilly . So if you want to stay for the festival unless you drive you will have this walk into Ventnor catch the bus which takes 50 minutes then another 25 minutes from the bus stop to the venue. Buses are cheap just 2.00 per person each way compared to a 66 quid taxi each way ! So now onto our beautiful stay. The hosts kept in touch throughout the lead up to our stay . We usually stay in modern hotels but this is an older quirky accommodation full of history . Our hosts allowed us early entry which was a blessing as we arrived from the mainland early hours. I would say possibly the most helpful welcoming hosts we have ever had, they really could not do enough for us. Our room was clean ,tidy and the bed was comfortable most welcome after walking 10-14 miles each day. Loved the bone china cups with saucers , a range of teas and a cafeteria with freshly ground local coffee and biscuits. I really like this old school stuff ! The hosts allowed us to eat our picnic in their pretty garden grounds which has a table and chairs. So chilled out and quiet. The hosts are very honest and the internet coverage is very poor but can be reached in the lounge, this was not a problem for us as used just mornings before we went out. Plenty of storage in the rooms and complimentary toiletries which I was glad of having forgotten some items. Absolutely loved having a bath there’s a shower over the bath but due to the extensive walking a magnesium salt bath was most welcome. Bathroom has plenty of space and cleaning items should you need them , you want for nothing at all here. Room has tv , lovely view to the garden and old style fireplace. The accommodation is full of old artefacts are so interesting . The food…. Wow ….everything is locally sourced…even the ketchup . You pre order and everything was hot, perfectly presented I have never tasted such good bacon . The service was so good , as they only rent out three rooms they always find time to talk to you. One of the most memorable stays thank you Ruth and Robert x definitely intend to return . X

We visited Lisle Combe for a charity event themed evening. Our hosts were warm and welcoming. Lisle Combe is packed with amazing history, antiques and transports you back to a Wonderful Victorian era. The building itself is magically beautiful.

One of the best b & bs we've ever stayed in, tucked away in lovely grounds about a mile and a half from Ventnor, close to the Botanic Garden. You can walk through the vast garden to the coastal path and also down to a small cove. The house is huge but has only three b & b bedrooms, all beautifully fitted out. The guests lounge and dining room are large and you felt as though you were in a stately home! Robert and Ruth were the perfect hosts, always on hand for advice about the area and help out with any problems, you almost felt like one of the family. The breakfasts were lovely and you had a wide choice to choose from, no need for much lunch! Recommend the Spyglass Inn for food at night, no bookings taken, the Bonchurch Inn for great Italian food, The Bistro and La Cantina in Ventnor, booking advisable. We were lucky with the weather and visited Mottistone Gardens, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle, our favourites. For a peaceful place to stay at with perfect hosts and great rooms you won't find any better on the Isle of Wight.

This was our second stay at Lisle Combe and we absolutely love it here. We had all the rooms as went as a big family. Ruth and Robert was so accommodating and friendly, best hosts you could ask for. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and freshly cooked and nice and hot. Ruth was always making sure we had enough tea, coffee and toast. There are beautiful grounds and access to beach. Nice relaxing big communal area which we used as a family at night chatting and playing games. The whole place was lovely and clean and rooms nice and spacious with the most comfortable beds. So much history in the house and a very relaxing place. My two young girls loved being there with all the grounds and space. Will definitely return again in the future. Thank you for a great stay from The Vincent family

Atmospheric, spacious and comfortable. Very peaceful and secluded, beautiful country house. Charming hosts, incredible breakfast, pretty bedrooms and gracious guest lounge. Great views and location, joining the coastal path, short walk to beach, and lovely cafe at Steephill cove, and short walk to Ventnor... slightly hilly. Thank you for our lovely stay, Hilary & Bob

We were disappointed with our room which was dreary and dusty. Our bed sheets were damp and our bath towels stank of smoke (from fire pit or BBQ). Cups in the room were not replaced and we had to ask for Clean towels and extra loo rolls. The owners decided to have a small party during our stay which meant we couldn't use the lovely garden terrace. One of the beds wasn't even made up on arrival and hostess was out for the evening. Whilst this is undoubtedly a beautiful historic property, we very much felt we were invading the family's private home. Over-cooked rock hard poached eggs for breakfast. Nah, we won't be staying there again.

Our stay at Lisle Coombe was most relaxing and peaceful. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable. The house and grounds are impressive and interesting and the coastal path can be accessed via the garden. Ruth and Robert are the perfect hosts, very helpful and knowledgeable regarding the area and always willing to assist. The breakfasts were outstanding, very well cooked and using quality ingredients. If you are looking for a peaceful comfortable base for a break in the IOW we would certainly recommend Lisle Coombe
