Hotel Palazzo Giovanelli e Gran Canal

I enjoyed staying in this lovely hotel the service was fantastic.

We have just returned from a 2-night stay at this lovely hotel. It is well positioned for all the sights and there is a public water taxi stop next to the front of the hotel. The staff make all the difference. Valentino and another young man, whose name I didn’t get, were on reception for the 2 nights we were there. They didn’t stay behind the desk but came out and circulated and were engaging with all the customers, genuinely interested in what everyone had been doing. As front of house, they were outstanding. We had a side canal view. We paid a premium and being only 5’2” if I leant out, with my husband holding my ankles, I could see the Grand Canal. Not sure I would go for this option again. The room itself was small but very comfortable. We both slept very well. The only ****** was breakfast. I would like this to be self-service. On entering the breakfast room, we were advised that we had to have table service we were automatically given some bread rolls and croissants on the table. I like to have a look and then choose my own size portions, normally small. I observed that several people seemed to want to do self-service, but this wasn’t an option. A lot of rolls and croissants weren’t used as not everyone wanted them and I assume went to the bin. Also I just like to be left to do my own thing at breakfast. Table service for tea and coffee would be good. Unfortunately, this is something that would put me off using the hotel again. The only other small issue for me is the individual shampoo etc in the bathroom. I much prefer refillable dispensers which create far less plastic waste.

We arrived to the hotel via water taxi from the Venice airport. It was about a 15-20 minute boat ride. The staff were very friendly. The front door is the grand canal. The back door is a little alley way that leads to the town. staff accommodated our large group of 13. All our rooms were on the second floor. We had little balconies. Our room had views of the back while our parents had a great view of the canals. Our room had two twin beds. Everything was super clean in our hotel. They had continental breakfast which was a small buffet but they seat you and serve you. So friendly and breakfast was great. we enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Venice.

Stayed here one night. The hotel is very nice and the room was very spacious. It was a short walk from the boat stop and the staff was exceptional. We were scheduled for the buffet breakfast but since we were basically the only ones in the hotel they made our breakfast to order which was great. If you’re in Venice I would recommend staying here.

I went on a trip with my daughter and we had the pleasure of staying two nights at the hotel. It starts with the check in, which was warm and welcoming. We were given a small tour and history of the floor we stayed on and then shown our room. WOW - it was spacious, spotless and serene. We had a garden view room and it does not disappoint. The balcony was magical and the tranquil gardens were inviting. The bathroom is huge and comes with Ferragamo toiletries, which smells heavenly and feel as luxurious as you expect. The bed is comfortable and big without feeling overwhelming. The daily breakfast was wonderful. It is not buffet style, which I was happily surprised by. The dining room is not too big, so you would think it would feel crowded and be loud. It was neither. The guest service - being recommended where to enjoy a great meal and then having them make a reservation for you - was appreciated and just that extra touch. I can’t wait to go back.

From start to finish we had a great stay at this wonderful hotel. The arrival by boat, the unique and classy room, the prosecco in our room, the suggestions from the friendly staff, the service at the little bar, the delicious breakfast. It was all well-beyond satisfactory; it was excellent!

Great location if you want a comfortable hotel with excellent service and like to walk. Avoid the bustle of St. Marks but get there easily. Closer to Rialto. Staff here are top notch. Breakfast included in our deal was a great start. Dock gives east access to Grand Canal. Safe and clean area. Good room comfy bed meticulously neat. Sitting area outside at night and espresso bar in lobby. Boutique feel. I’d gladly return.

Wonderful location, outstanding service in this historic hotel! We spent our first three nights on our Italian trip. The location is fantastic with our room overlooking the Grand Canal! Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast each morning served by warm staff. Our room was charming and comfortable. We highly recommended. We booked through Delta Vacations!
