This is a great accommodation for staying on the Varanasi ghats. Certainly, there are the usual obstacles of getting there with motorised restrictions beyond Godowlia, so if you've not stayed in this area of Varanasi before, I advise contacting the hotel and requesting assistance for the last km. The Ganga facing rooms are definitely the pick. These rooms are sometimes smaller, so check the actual room sizes when booking, and if you like extra space, you'll need to ay a little more. We stayed in one of the non-river facing ground floor rooms and it was excellent. Plenty of space and well designed. I looked at the upper river-facing rooms and they are very pleasant. The staff are proficient, attentive and ready to help with all requirements. The rooms exceptionally clean, which is a pleasure in a city notorious for its dirtiness, as Gandhi outrageously pointed out. Location is perfect - somehow it overlooks the Ganga as if you were right on the ghats, and the breakfast area on the roof has a spectacular view. Food for breakfast was excellent, and the staff there are very good. We didn't have any other meals than breakfast, so I can't speak for that. The hotel sits just off Bangali Tola, which is one of the most interesting laneways for travellers, with numerous cafes and restaurants, although I recommend eating main meals at Keshari's on Dashashwamedha Rd. Definitely, I would choose Sri Omkar Palace again were I to return to Varanasi.
