Hotel Jsr Ganga

The banks of the River Ganges (Various Ghats) are “No Vehicle” zone. We were staying at JSR Ganga on Ahliyabhai Ghat, next to famous Dashasyamedh Ghat. The taxi dropped us at Girja Ghar from where we had to take a rickshaw to Nandi Chowk. The representative from the hotel was waiting there who guided us to the hotel through the narrow lanes of Benaras. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to locate the hotel. Elderly people may avail wheel chair which are available at Nandi Chowk. We stayed in Room No 401 which had a terrace infront from where one can have an excellent view of the river, few of the ghats including Dashsyamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat. In the evening, one can enjoy the side view of the Arati. It is suggested to reserve Room No 401 or 402. Other rooms do not have any views and will have to come to the restaurant to enjoy the view. Room was comfortable. Hotel food is tasty and they serve hot wholesome food. In the morning, buffet breakfast is available. The staffs were very helpful. There was some initial problems. Our Room No 401 was allocated to someother guests and they were trying to allocate us different room which didnot have any view. After a lot discussions, finally they yielded and checked us in that room. After that every thing was very comfortable.

The room was adequate but compared to the price you pay it is very poor. The room was dirty. The bed sheet had hairs and stains on it. The shower drain did not work so the water almost ran into the room. We asked to clean the room, but they then cleaned it again with dirty brushes, which had no effect. They also changed the sheets when we asked, which is very nice, but the new sheets were just as dirty with stains and hairs. The staff is friendly and they want to help you, but the result is not worth the price at all.
