The location of the hotel is okay, facing the Central Park, but the hotel is just average. I would rather stay farther away and drive to Mantaza to see it (there is not much to see in this place, so you can stay here or not)

Excellent! Very friendly and amazing service. Best accomodation during our trip in Cuba. Rooms are very Comfy and clean, the staff always kind and available. Convenient prices and card payment accepted as well as cash Highly recommended!

We didn’t stay at the Velasco, but we went to the bar two nights in a row because the bartenders are all so nice. Osmay, Oliver and Yanerys all know how to mix great drinks. Osmay is the best at the “Velasco,” a drink named for the famous hotel itself. It is a colorful creation that has mint and grenadine liqueurs. He also speaks perfect English and is a gifted conversationalist whose passions outside of the bar are Baseball and Fishing. Yanerys is famous for inventing the “Purple Everest Daquiri” that includes a magical combination of wines and liquors that is not only extremely tasty, but also really beautiful when properly prepared (see pictures). Oliver is a gifted mixologist with a rich appreciation of the ingredients and techniques used, and regularly creates new and innovative mixed drinks. He showed us one design utilizing multiple colored liqueurs. Needless to say, this is a fun environment. It’s a beautiful hotel lobby bar with super nice staff.

New and clean facility. But cold breakfast and very slow service. There was a total lack of hot water in the rooms for both nights of the trip. Furthermore, the night before they collected the clothes for the laundry and in the morning they were asking for payment with the unwashed clothes. Casa particulares are better

Charming colonial style boutique hotel very central in Matanzas. Makeshift reception, friendly welcome, good organization. Very nice patios on the ground floor. Modern rooms on several floors, but no elevator. But hotel staff bring the suitcases to the room. Free WiFi, but only works in the patio. Beautiful, sufficiently large rooms, clean with hygienic tiled floors. Modern bathroom with stepless shower. Flat screen TV, fridge, safe, air conditioning, coffee maker with coffee and tea. 1 bottle of water free. Very central location at Parque Libertad. Almost everything worth seeing in the city can be reached on foot from here. Interestingly enough, breakfast is not offered as a buffet but as a course menu. Was quite satisfactory. We didn't visit the restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is absolutely recommended!

The hotel is located in the middle of the city with a beautiful view of the market square. The hotel doesn't have a lift, as it dates back to the Batista era (like almost everything that still works in Cuba). The check-in and the reception of the food took a bit longer, but the staff is very nice and helpful. We had a room at the back with a balcony and a view of the side street, where you can see the "real" Cuba with dilapidated houses. Unfortunately, it's quite loud at night, since Cubans don't know anything like a night's sleep... you can hear loud motorbike noises and from time to time someone who has caught too much rum :) But everything worked in the room and you can enjoy the colonial atmosphere in the hotel and feels like a movie from the 50s.
