I have been at Daku resort for 10 days and had an amazing experience. Not so much because of the resort itself - but because of the staff. Savu Savu is a 'must visit' destination. It is worth the cost of the airfare to get here. It is so much better up here than on the main island. And the location of Daku Resort is very good. Cheap taxi ride into town. Beach right across the road. The best snorkelling just down the road. I write this review to speak to the UK owner. Mr Owner - you cannot expect to remain a good resort if you do not invest money to maintain it. You have the most amazing team of people working their butts off to make you money. You need to support them and show them some respect. You need new kayaks, new snorkelling gear. Some of your rooms are terrible considering the price you charge. The first room I was check into was disgraceful in regard to the need for refurbishment. Do not blame the staff for this. It was very clean and I am certain they do all they can to keep the rooms at their best. But they cannot do this if you don't play your part and provide some money to make much needed repairs and refurbishments. Buy your garden people a lawn mower. I am sure if you can afford to own this resort that you could afford a mower. It is disgraceful that you expect the boys to mow this whole property with a very old whipper snipper. I have not seen the kitchen - but wouldn't be at all surprised if it also needs better and new equipment. You should take better care of your team. You have a wonderful Manager, wonderful staff and should make an effort to ensure the resort is kept up to a standard. They have treated me like family while I have been here. They have looked after my every need. While I was here there was a drowning at the beach. Your staff gave every effort to try to save her. I was there - I saw what they did. And I have witnessed their trauma from this event over the last few days. So please Mr UK owner - look after your people. Give them the equipment they need to do such a great job. Provide good facilities for the guests that come to stay here. The resort I stayed at on my last visit had much better rooms for the same price. They had great kayaks with seats, and great snorkelling masks. I hope when I come back that I see some improvement. Regards Diana Pregl Atherton, Australia.

Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and great food. An easy walk into town. My second time there and I will be back. They also offer interesting workshops in art, writing, yoga, etc. Great value for those who want to make their holiday even more special.

Great low-key resort on a very quiet road right on the beautiful ocean. Great value, great staff, great location. I stayed for 10 days. Enjoyed the pool, the accommodation and the kava! Hire a car from the resort and visit the waterfall. Ticket to the falls is expensive at $35 AUS but the $ supports the local village in health care and education. And the falls are really beautiful!

The views are beautiful from every cabin let it be oceon or garden view. The food was amazing, the chef so talented we felt like we were at a fine dinning restaurant. Staff were very friendly and ready to please. Nothing was too little or big for them to attend to. The owners jj and Delia often had dinner with us also it felt like a home away from home . The units were Very private. Some with their own dipping pool. VEry clean and kept up during our stay

The staff is kind, welcoming and accommodating. I would have rated it 5 stars, but we had no water. I was able to shower the night of arrival, but my partner had zero water. So no shower after a 36 hour travel. But, they comped breakfast (a glass of juice and coffee, and 1 slice of toast and 2 hard boiled eggs between the 2 of us) for the inconvenience, so that was nice. The plunge pool was cloudy and smelled weird, so we didnt use it but for a moment , then couldn't rinse off the odd odor. If there had been water, 5 stars all day. I certainly hope that the very special guest that was present had water! Again, the native staff was exceptional and i was pleased overall. Bula

Returning to Daku is like going back to a family home. From arriving at the airport, eating dinner and having a massage the welcome was fantastic. Although I went with the premise of another of Daku’s courses - the excellent Mark Wallers acrylic painting workshop - it has been an old round perfect blend of a holiday. Walking early through the bush with pink bananas and snorkelling some amazing reefs were all included. I couldn’t recommend highly enough and will certainly be back!

This was my second stay at Daku, the first being 11 years ago. It's beautifully situated overlooking Savusavu Bay, a 10/15 minute walk to the centre of town or if too hot taxis regularly pass by the road outside. Fares can be negotiated for a modest price. I stayed in one of the bures at the front of the resort which was very clean and well equipped with a mini fridge, fan and aircon, safe. It had a generous bathroom and seating outside the front looking out to the bay and the immediate gardens. As with 11 years ago the staff made me feel tremendously welcome, for which i am grateful. Also Delia and J.J the owners made me feel welcome again, inviting me to dinner on the evening of arrival at the resort. They have a wonderful yoga shala that overlooks the bay and the resort. It's beautiful whether bright and sunny or there are warm tropical rains (by Uk standards). There are yoga mats to borrow. The pool is lovely and relaxing especially on hotter days, a great place to cool down. If i had planned my travels better i would have happily stayed for longer.

We rented the three bedroom beach house which was quite spacious and would be great for a large group. It’s an actual standalone house with small kitchen and three separate bathrooms. Generally found the hotel fine but property and units are dated. Felt more like a US motel than a resort of any sort, and the property is no where as updated as the pictures show. It is relatively close to town. We were able to walk but it was long enough that after the first time, we took a taxi. Breakfast was very basic. I found for the overall price versus other places I stayed across Fiji, it was high for what we got. And the front office was more transactional without much interaction to guests. Neither host at reception over the two days made any effort suggest things to do.
