English version: This place is a hidden gem! Due to a minor mix-up, we had to change our arrival airport from Savusavu to Labasa at very short notice. Despite this, they quickly arranged for a driver to meet us at the new airport – an impressive display of flexibility. When we finally arrived, we were absolutely blown away by the breathtaking view that greeted us. The spectacular scenery, warm smiles, and refreshing welcome drinks set the tone for our stay. Every detail here is thoughtfully taken care of. The food is delightful and can be enjoyed either in your villa or in the cozy communal area, always accompanied by the stunning views. The staff’s attentiveness and friendliness truly make a difference – they have a way of making you feel at home while being completely pampered. The variety of complimentary activities is a huge plus, and we highly recommend trying as many as you can – it’s a fantastic way to make the most of your time here. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to couples or groups of friends looking for an intimate, idyllic retreat where everyone can enjoy their own private oasis. Oplevelsen her er gennemført i alle detaljer.

Our stay at Emaho Sekawa has been nothing short of amazing - the accommodation, food/drinks and activities offered have been first class. We arrived as Cyclone Rae swept through Fiji. Unfortunately, as inter-island flights were cancelled we needed to spend an extra day in Nadi. We were in constant contact with the resort staff and booking manager and they offered us a full refund for all the nights we weren't able to be there. This took all the stress off and impressed us greatly. The resort facilities and the position on the mountain are simply luxurious. Overlooking the bay, forrest and mountains (in my opinion) is far superior to a villa on the beach. Didn't bring mosquito spray? It, and the sunblock is already provided. We were never in want for anything. For each activity we were guided by a team who knew everything there was to know, flexible to what we wanted to do, when it suited us best. They and the other staff have been quite impressive in their service and always so accommodating. Of particular note was the village visit one afternoon, as we saw the school and low stress life of most Fijians. Overall, my wife and I could not have picked a better place for our honeymoon. 10/10

It is difficult to put into words how special Emaho Sekawa is. My partner and I visited for our honeymoon and it was above and beyond our expectations. The views were idillic, the food was delicious but most of all the staff were incredible. Nothing was ever too much and they welcomed us like members of the family. We aren't very good at relaxing and doing nothing, so the numerous activities on offer were perfect for us. We would really recommend the mud baths, waterfall and snorkelling at split rock! But if we just wanted to relax and unwind then our villa was perfect for that too! Watching the sunset every night over dinner will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we have truly fallen in love with the island - we will be back soon!!

It had been a very long time since my wife and I vacationed with no work, kids, or other obligations. All we wanted to do was unwind in a warm and special place. At some point I stumbled upon The Emaho Sekawa retreat on Vanua Levu, the more rural of the two main islands of Fiji. The reviews, photos, and descriptions looked almost too good to be true, but I decided what the heck. I had been to Fiji a couple of times for work and enjoyed the nature and culture, but it would be new for my wife. We booked the Totoka Villa for 12 nights and the Emaho delivered everything we wanted and more. Honestly, we only left the Villa for an occasional activity, otherwise simply lounged on the spacious veranda, dipped in the private pool, and enjoyed all of our meals served in our beautiful and very private setting. Every meal was delicious, most often a tasty Fijiian take on western comfort food using the freshest ingredients. We read books, slept (super comfy mattress), conversed, and went on a few walks. When wi-fi was needed, there was never an issue (even fast enough for a video game I play from time to time). There is a tv in the room, but we never even turned it on. The mountaintop/jungle setting was amazing. The sunsets from our deck over the tropical expanse were incredible. We had some concerns about traveling in the "rainy" and warm season, but the weather mostly cooperated and we found the occasional downpour delightful as well. The villa had a workhorse air conditioner so we could retreat from the heat anytime if we wanted to, though it was just fine on the shaded deck. The staff delivered consummate soft-spoken Fijiian hospitality and is right there when you need them and a world away when you don't. At the top of our list, we enjoyed rejuvenating couples massages every other day. Staying mostly in our private heaven, we only did some of the available activities, but the waterfall, trail, and dip in the pool below should not be missed. Same for the geothermal mud bath. The staff provided services as needed including housekeeping, laundry (including ironing), island driving (one example, they took us in town to watch the Super Bowl at a new resort where other fans were gathered), and never ending supplies of chips, cookies, soda, and water. If we were drinkers, that would have been available also. In short (after a long review), we loved our private extended stay here and expect you will too. Joe & Tammy K Tacoma, WA, USA

When we first arrived in Nadi and mentioned we were going to Savusavu, every local we spoke to told us that Savusavu was called the "hidden paradise", we had no idea how true this statement was! It started with the stunning scenery during the short domestic flight from Nadi airport, the warm greeting at Savusavu airport from Sala and Kele, the beautiful drive thru some of the villages on Vanua Levu to Sekawa Beach Estate where we arrived to an absolutely jaw dropping view of the rainforest and the south pacific! As we exited the vehicle we were welcomed by the entire Emaho team with a lovely song as we enjoyed some refreshing coconut water. Shortly after we were escorted to our villa. We stayed in Villa Emaho (Tip: do yourself a favour and book this one if you can). The attention to detail and how beautifully everything was designed to blend seamlessly to harmonize with the natural surroundings and maximize the stunning panoramic views yet still provide the ultimate in privacy... we were absolutely blown away. There truly are no words to describe just how beautiful and magical this place is. What stands out even more than the stunning beauty of the retreat, it's location and the amazing views is the Emaho team who are the warmest, kindest, friendliest, lovely, hard working people we have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. We got married (eloped) during our stay, this is not something Emaho Sekawa typically does they advised, but fortunately they made an exception for us. Again we were blown away, the entire team worked so so hard and were so excited to be part of our special day and what a special day it was indeed! We let the talented team at Emaho plan all of the details (we wanted to be surprised) our only request was that they entire team joined us and shared in the celebration. OMG it was BEAUTIFUL!!! The pre wedding massage and body scrub, the preparation of our wedding cloths, the flowers and decorations, the warriors, the choir, our best man and maid of honour (Kele and Sala), the DJ (Lo), the kava ceremony that went on for hours ("high tide" :)) the beautiful wedding cake and the FOOD prepared by the chef and his team (they made a lovo for us ) so much food and so delicious. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank the entire team at Emaho Sekawa for all your hard work and making our time in Fiji beyond anything we could have imagined. We could go on forever about how wonderful Emaho Sekawa Retreat and the team are, do yourself a favour and book this place now, we cannot wait to return... I wish it was closer (we live in Canada). (Note to Emaho: You totally should do wedding/elopements because you do the EXCEPTIONALLY WELL!!) Chantelle, Lo, Loi, Vinka, Titi (aka Queen Elizabeth) Sala, Kele, Nonni (we are sorry if we missed anyone) a giant Vinaka Vaka Levu from Mike and I. You have a special place and a special team that have captured our hearts and we love you all. PS please give Kitty (aka Captain Jack) a cuddle from us xx

If you are looking for a private and romantic authentic Fijian island experience without the hustle and bustle of crowded resorts, Emaho Sekawa Retreat is for you and your loved one! It was the perfect combination of guided island activities and time for rest and relaxation at our private villa, enjoying our own infinity pool overlooking stunning mountain, river and beach views and other luxury facilities. From the moment we were greeted by the staff’s welcome song and gorgeous harmonies, we knew this place was special. At our villa, we felt so cared for as the warm, hospitable staff served delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the food and beverages were high quality, with a great range of choices. Nothing was too much bother! The guides also planned daily activities with us, taking us to the island activities we wanted to experience and joining in to share their local knowledge of their island life. We took advantage of the awesome included activities; we snorkelled, kayaked, swam in waterfalls, visited the town of Savusavu and a local village, walked along Sekawa black sand beach and covered ourselves in volcanic mud! The Kokomana Cacao Farm tour and chocolate tasting was a worthwhile extra (the sustainable farm and chocolate-making process was a great learning experience), as was the relaxation massage and the kava ceremony on our last night. Take a moment to pre-choose some karaoke songs to sing (if so inclined) at the kava ceremony, as my husband and I struggled to gather a quick set-list and ended up doing a dodgy rendition of Norwegian Wood! Also pack aqua shoes, hiking sandals and a waterproof camera, if you have these items. Thank you to our amazing hosts, Sala, Kele, Noni, Vikka, Lau, Loi, Titi, Mary, Rusi and others who looked after us beautifully, were happy to chat and connect with us and answer all of my questions! My husband and I loved our wonderful stay at Emaho Sekawa Retreat and our authentic island holiday. We would highly recommend it to others who appreciate pamper and pleasure! Vinaka and we hope to see you all again one day.
