I have never been treated as poorly by a hotel employee as I was by the Manager of this hotel. I booked the government rate ($96) for our room for the weekend of 5/14-5/15 as my husband is a member of the US Air Force. Although we were travelling for my son's baseball tournament, my husband would also be required to work from the room between games as it was his drill weekend for Air National Guard (he was missing to fulfil his coaching obligations but agreed to login remotely). I called early the morning of Sat, 5/14/2022 to ask for an early check-in. While on the phone, the manager asked me what brought us to Evansville and I responded that my son was in a local baseball tournament. I thought she was being kind and making conversation. She then said that she would need to revise my rate as I was not honest about the government rate. When I checked-in (early) at the hotel another front desk worker asked if I was checking out bc I was way too early to be checking in. I explained that I had called and was told that my room was ready. On the credit card machine my charge came up as over $200 for the night. I asked why so much. She told me that this included an incidental charge of between $30-$50 that ”should be” refunded but couldn't tell me how much. I asked what my nightly rate had been revised to. Then the manager (that was seated there listening) spoke up and said she had revised my rate to $140/night since my husband was not actually here on government work. My husband and I have travelled more than we like due to his career and service. After over 20 years of military service to our country we have never had the rate changed or been questioned about booking. Rarely do they even require our military ID although we always show it along with our regular ID at the time of payment. But that wasn't the issue for me- if she felt that we needed to pay the additional $40, fine. The issue was how rude and unkind she was when I attempted to explain that. She stood up out of her chair and shouted at me that I wasn't going to accuse her of being ”anti-military” (words which I would NEVER use) and screamed at me in front of my children in the middle of the lobby. Infact I said repeatedly, ”It's fine and you gotta do what you gotta do” and attempted to walk back to my vehicle for our luggage while she continued shouting at me throughout the lobby. I was horrified as were my young children (ages 4 and 7) who were with me and have never seen me spoken to like that by anyone. My 7 year old daughter asked me what ”anti-military” even meant. Again, we have stayed at 100s of Marriott's, Hiltons, Holiday Inns, and numerous government properties over the last several years and I have never encountered a person as unbelievably rude and combative as this woman.

Fairfield Inn Evansville West

Poor communication marred our two-day stay. Right away we had a problem with the air conditioning. A call to the front desk resolved the issue, but it would have been nice to know how to operate the cooling system. There was no information about how to operate the TV. We stream TV at home, but this system was incomprehensible. The front desk staff said there are no written instructions and offered to “come fiddle with it” but we declined. We were stunned to come back from a long conference and find the beds unmade late afternoon. When asked about housekeeping, the front desk staff said housekeeping is “by request only.” We were not told this upon checking in, and we found no such information in the website (or anywhere else). Occasionally, hotels stress their efforts to reduce waste and tell guests how to let housekeeping staff know if no towels, etc., are needed. No such information was posted in our room. This is not a big deal, but the issue underscores what poor communication there is in this hotel, especially given its price. Front desk staff members were effusive in their friendliness upon our check-in, but the hotel experience suffers overall from inadequate communication and poor services. I expect more from Marriott.

This was a hotel that is in desperate need of a complete renovation. Upon arriving the lobby was dirty, first sign we should have found other accomodations. The front desk clerks were ok, not overly friendly, never a smile. The housekeeping staff do not know the first meaning of cleaning. Upon arrival, the room was not stocked at all, had to go down to the desk for mutiple items that should have been in the room. The sink did not drain, the toilet had a cigarette burn on it, with a sign beside it saying it is a no smoking room. Come on, how much does it really cost to replace a toilet seat. There were chips and cracks in the sink and tub. The shower rod was rusted, shower curtain very dirty and slimy. I knew better to walk around barefoot on that nasty carpet. The mattresses I think are the same mattresses they put in when this place was open, they are sunk in and not comfortable. Mutiple lights in the room did not work, it was very dark in there. Be warned there are no usb ports, not even many plug ins. The fridge was not working either, it was barely cool with it turned up as high as it would go.There was trash piled all around the hotel out on the grounds, it just looks like a run down place. The parking is horrible, they have a very small parking lot, you can park around back but trust me that is very sketchy looking, no lights or anything. The breakfast area was not really well stocked, it kind of made you nervous to eat anything with the way the rest of the hotel looked. I do have two good things on this hotel, the water pressure and hot water is wonderful. Also, the air unit keeps it very cool, which most hotel units do not. I can not recommend this hotel to anyone, do yourself a favor if staying in a choice hotel, do not pick this one.

This hotel is back off the main road but is near a highway so depending on the location of your room it might be a little loud. I didnt really hear it so I slept fine. The check-in was quick and fast. The luggage cart's where a little weird but we tried to make them work. They managed to get us on a main floor near a exit so he could go out and smoke since the hotel is non smoking. They do a small breakfast we ate two of our three days there. The hotel is also just a short distance from food places and a couple big shopping centers. We did notice that depending on how loud your neighbors were depended on if you could hear them or not. One night we were woken up by someone cursing loudly in the room next to us but didnt hear anything the other nights we where there. There is plenty of parking and the pool wasnt yet open but it appeared they were trying to get it ready.
Holiday Inn Express Evansville - West

First time ever in Evansville, so I didn’t know what to expect. The location is right off the Lloyd “Expressway” (I use that term loosely), on the western edge of the city. Despite the expressway not exactly being so, it’s not that far of a drive to downtown, maybe ten minutes, depending on traffic and lights. There are several restaurants near the hotel, and a movie theater in walking distance. I arrived early just after 10AM not expecting a room, but George (I think that’s his name), found one and allowed me to check in. He was very friendly and welcoming, a nice start to the experience. On the way up to the room, I notice the place has an older style, possibly 1990s. It’s possible it was something else beforehand. The halls were clean, and so was the room when I did check in. Bathroom is typical size, TV has a decent selection, bed is comfortable, and area is very quiet. The AC does its job keeping the place cool. The only issue is the ever too present weak water pressure found so often in hotels. Breakfast was in grab n go bags, due to the virus. Coffee was available in the room. Pool is the average size, but there is no spa. There was at one time- you can clearly see where it was. Not sure why they took it out of commission. Not sure if my travels will take me to a Evansville again, but if so, I will stay here.
