The front desk staff when I arrived was EXCELLENT. She took time to introduce the various places around Vancouver to visit which I felt was a nice touch that hotel staff do not provide anymore. I can’t remember her name, but pls do identify her to give her credit. She was amazing.
Negatives
1. What was disappointing was that the hotel did not live up to expectations and price of being a five star hotel. The main entrance was at the back of the street. The entrance facing the street was the hotel bar. This made absolutely no sense (other than vehicle wise), as the back alley had all the fumes from restaurants and was really quite unpleasant to walk through. Felt like a 2/3 star hotel experience.
2. The hotel room itself felt tired, worn and one thing I could not accept was the MOLD and DIRT on the bath shower floors and side of the floors. It was really disgusting…. How could that not be fixed? That amount of dirt is there if it has not been cleaned thoroughly for months or weeks. There were snacks/cans in the room for purchase but they were covered in a layer of dust.
3. The hotel did not provide bottled water unless you asked from the front desk (which I only learnt on my third day when I saw someone doing so). The water they provided was in CANS. After seeing the dirt and dust I was hesitant to drink from the can or even use the glass but I had no choice. Why can’t the hotel just give bottled water in rooms??
Positives
1. Location was not bad with proximity to lots of restaurants and felt safe
2. The shower gel, cream, shampoo provided from fig + yarrow were excellent
3. Could chrome cast to the television and there was also an iPad to watch YouTube
4. Room was pretty high tech. Could control drapes, light and aircon and that kept me warm. However this shld be explained at check in. I didn’t initially know of the electronic controls till I discovered them.
5. Bedding was comfortable
