The hotel was in a great location, pretty much in between both “islands” that you want to visit. It was also right by all the main food streets and foot traffic areas. The breakfast is normal, and they will make you a coffee of your liking to order. You have espresso and water in the room, and the wifi is nice and strong. The rooms were a touch hot for my taste, even with the heat off. The rooms could benefit from a overhead fan or an in room fan to plug in, but that’s my only suggestion. Great hotel, 100% recommend.

We have just got back from 4 days in Malta's fine capital, Valletta and have stayed in some great boutique hotels when visiting cities. The 66 Saint Paul's is another example. Each of the signature rooms has been thoughtfully and carefully curated. We stayed in the Penthouse suite for 4 nights and this offered a stunning view over the harbour to the 3 cities opposite, bathed in sunshine throughout the day and with our own sun deck. Each step on to it felt like walking into a postcard. My wife also enjoyed the shared pool area which was clean and well serviced. The building itself is about 400 years old so you instantly feel connected to the city. You soon notice almost all buildings on the Maltese islands are built of the signature local limestone. The splendid and centuries old Palazzo Santa Sofia rubs shoulders with the many baroque churches, centuries old dwellings, and also some surprising modern designs too, in a beautiful compliment across the skyline, much unlike the sometimes garish contrasts in capitals further north. Although the food was very good and all fresh, do note that like a lot of city hotels there is no dining option at the 66 St Paul’s after breakfast. However, location is everything and, once oriented to the harbour and the De Valette monument, you are literally a minute away from Merchants Street and Republic Street, the two main public thoroughfares linking the shops, sites and many eateries. The sloping alleyways linking these to St Paul Street come alive after sunset and are transformed into an array of bars and restaurants, with more lining the length of Merchants Street each night. I can't imagine eating in anywhere near half of them, but we found plenty of choice and good meals for less than 20 euros per head each night with recommendations available from the hotel too. The great location of the 66 Saint Paul's extends in every direction with easy access to the harbour (we caught a water taxi to the 3 cities for a look around, totally recommended), the various gardens, museums and also the must-see-and-hear Saluting Battery each day at noon. We were also able to link up easily with a very good walking tour and had to wait no more than a few minutes for our collections, taxis and Ubers. A trip to Mdina and the catacombs to learn more about Malta's fascinating history is also worth the time and effort. Our biggest thanks, along with the weather, are for the small team that kept things running for the 15 rooms. The housekeeping was reliable and thorough and each one of the staff that helped at reception and breakfast was, like everyone we met in Malta, friendly and polite. We really enjoyed our first visit to Malta, in part to the cheerful and generous nature of the people and the warm reception from the city of Valetta. I must totally recommend a visit.

We stayed here for 6 nights while visiting Malta. Perfect hotel right in the centre of Valletta so perfect for nights out with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. The staff are super helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Always helpful with suggestions and advice. Breakfast is continental and has different offerings every day - more than enough choice. Great coffee options too. Bedrooms are lovely, comfy bed, good quality bedding and fantastic shower. There is a roof top pool - it’s small with only a few beds but not much else is needed. Towels are always available. Highly recommend and would stay here again.

The whole team were so friendly, welcoming and could not do enough to help us. Nothing was too much trouble and they were full of useful advice relating to the where to go and what to see. We arrived early hours of the morning, due to a flight delay, and the greeting and initial briefing was appropriate for two weary travellers. The rooms were well equipped and the breakfast had a great selection to kick start the day. Definitely recommend staying here.

Wow wow wow. What can I say about this truly fantastic hotel. A quirky yet traditional entrance, lovely touch with the arrival drink. The staff were very attentive, serving an arrival drink whilst we completed the booking forms. An upgrade due to our room not yet ready, again the staff were so attentive bringing ice, wine and so on to our room with no hesitation. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return. A MUST if staying in Valletta. A 5* hotel at a reasonable price.

The street where the hotel is doesn’t look like anything special but then you get a really pleasant surprise when you walk into the hotel. The staff were amazing from beginning to end and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. I think you could order pancakes for breakfast but we opted for the cold breakfast which was all very fresh and there was a good variety of good. Again, excellent staff at breakfast. Our room wasn’t the biggest but it was perfectly adequate with a free safe, complimentary water, a chargeable minibar, toiletries and shower cap in the bathroom. The wardrobe is really small but we were only there for three days. We spent two mornings at the rooftop pool. It’s a small pool with about 6 sunbeds around it but we had the area to ourselves most of the time. The position of the hotel is extremely convenient. Step out and everything is around the corner. This does not affect noise levels in the hotel. We would definitely return to this hotel, it’s a little gem.

A perfect spot for exploring Malta, centrally located, near St John’s cathedral and main tourist thoroughfares. A thoughtful redesign of a 500 year old villa, marrying impressive original architectural details with a complimentary modern aesthetic, beautiful. We had a room with an attached 2 armchair lounging spot overlooking the lobby area. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful in arranging reservations, a local guide Mark, and transport. Breakfast was incredible, a variety of different pastries daily, fruit, yogurt, charcuterie, juices , coffee and pancakes made to order. There is a small rooftop pool, great after a day of site seeing, where you can order drinks to be delivered. ( in my case Aperol spritz’s) At night the main arteries get packed with tourists, so we particularly liked the smaller restaurants just around the corner on the terraced side streets.

Beautiful hotel, lovely roof terrace, good breakfast choice. The photos you see online are an accurate representation. We loved it. However, a couple of issues. 1) Very very small room. Room 101, very nice but VERY small. 2) On our second night ( out of 4 nights) the night manager was very noisy, well after midnight chatting and laughing with friends or others. I had to leave my room to ask them to be quiet. As a guest I shouldn't have to ask a member of the hotel management to be quiet especially after midnight.
