We managed to get a mooring when another boat kindly moved up but part of the mooring is crumbling. There was a limited selection of real ales but the Butcombe Rare Breed was nice. The food ( a burger & an aubergine dish) was nice. Ellie Our waitress in the tipi was very helpful

What a great find. Hubby and I were meeting up with friends who live locally. We arrived on Sunday afternoon prior to the Euro Final and expected to struggle to find seating. There’s a huge car park so no problem there. Beautiful huge garden with wooden seating and gorgeous parasols.. Right in the centre of the garden is a huge Teepee full of tables and chairs and pretty garden lights. This is ideal for families that need to keep children out of the sun while dining. There’s a children’s play area and I understand they have Cinema evenings outside. It’s close to the river and we saw several people either canoes and paddle boards. Staff were friendly and efficient. There was a great choice of ales, gin and other drinks. Alcoholic free gin too for the drivers! We were only having snacks with drinks so ordered the Mezze board which was a good selection of breads, olives and dips. Will definitely revisit next time we’re in Oxfordshire.

Stayed here 3 nights. Room was OK but unremarkable. Could have done with a couple of chairs as there was plenty of room. Staff pleasant, food generally good but breakfast took about 1.5 hours to serve! Only one waitress and from what I could see only one chef but service was very inefficient for just six rooms.

Really liked this inn, nice garden with lots of tables. Room was nice and large. The only negative was the food, wasn't really much choice and quite expensive for what you got. There was lots of quaint villages and towns not to far away to visit.

Looked forward to Sunday lunch here today. Higher end price of £22.95 for a beef roast so expecting a good experience. I have many recent lunch experiences to gauge this by. The roast potatoes were leathery and poor, very small amounts of vegetables hidden under the meat added to our disappointment. Quantity was the main issue. I prefer quality to quantity, but there was a thin line between the two. When the quantity was questioned we were offered a cauliflower cheese side dish which was a further £5+. Then another member of staff offered a complimentary portion of roast potatoes, gravy and a yorkshire pudding. I accepted only to receive again the poor quality potatoes, and no offer of the seasonal vegetables we actually would have preferred. I have eaten here in the past from a week day menu and returned today with high expectations. I have perhaps foolishly made the mistake of recommending this venue in the past. I am hugely disappointed by today’s experience

The room was spacious and had lots of amenities with a big bathroom. The service was second to none, everyone was really friendly and so helpful. The breakfast was excellent. A really beautiful place to stay, made even better by the staff. The location is nice too.

Went for a meal on a Tuesday evening, arrived at 6.30pm and got seated outside. Ordered drinks and then our food. The drinks came quite quickly, finished my pint so ordered another round of drinks to have with our meal, unfortunately more than 20 mins had elapsed before the second round of drinks arrived. In that time we had consumed our food. The food was OK just let down by the slow drinks service from the bar.

We held our Wedding breakfast and evening celebration at the Trout in their beautiful Tipi. What a stunning venue. General Manager, Hannah, personally made sure that everything was perfect during planning and on the day. Her level of communication with us was fantastic. Food was absolutely top class throughout the day. Staff were outstanding. Rooms were gorgeous and so comfortable. We could not have had a better wedding day there and overall experience right through until we checked out the following day. I would thoroughly recommend the venue for anyone wanting a fabulous wedding.
