Exactly what you would expect from a quintessential country inn - warm, welcoming and great food. We stayed for 2 nights and found our room to be clean, spacious and with a large comfy bed. The owner popped in both evenings and was very chatty and offered suggestions for local walks and attractions. Indeed, all staff were very friendly and I must give a special mention to Matt who personally looked after us from booking stage through to checkout. Overall a fabulous weekend break that I would highly recommend.

Had a great family weekend at the Three Horseshoes. Our party was 5 x in total rooms were clean and comfortable and quiet. Which my parents loved. Food was excellent as was the service. Great spot for all the family. Team very helpful as we had other family staying close by at other accommodation and catered for their needs as well.

Arrived for a 2 night stay on Saturday evening. We were checked in by a very amiable young lad who showed us to our room. He then explained that if the pub was closed we had to to gain access to the room via the fire exit via the roof. We were somewhat surprised as the route wasn't lit and the steps were slippery. We ate out on the first evening and got home at 2145 to find the pub closed on a Saturday night, bit strange but due to its remote location and the weather probably understandable. Next morning we had breakfast at around 9. Very limited options and no menu to describe them. Felt bad asking what the cooked options were. Breakfast was hot and came quickly. We then ate in the venue for Sunday Roast at about 4pm, waitress who told us it was her last day was OK, waiter who bought the food forgot spoons for the soup which I had to go and ask for. Food was lovely however not a fan of bulking out a roast dinner with boiled potatoes. Pub was very busy and lots of screaming children, but you expect that on a Sunday. The pub felt disorganised and the biggest surprise was that nobody checked we were ok at any point. The waitress this morning (maybe the land lady) didn't even say good morning, just 'tea or coffee'. This surprised me as we really expect more from the owners of a hospitality business. Landlord we saw for the first time today, amiable enough when we gave the key back. In summary, food would be a 5, service a 2, and the room a 5 but appreciation of us staying a 1. Wouldn't return

We arrived home yesterday after a 2 night stay here. My partner booked it as a surprise break for my 40th as he had got us tickets for the Gavin & Stacey tour. He did a lot of research before he booked as this was his first time planning anything like this. We had a drink on arrival due to the long journey. The setting of the pub was very rustic we were surprised how busy it was. We then checked in to our room. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfy. Also had a Tv on the wall and hairdryer to use. Tea & Coffee also available. The shower was amazing and missing it now we are home. We decided to eat here on the first night. Took a while to decide what to eat as there was a lot of choice and also they had a specials menu. We chose a couple of starters to share. I then had the beef stroganoff from the specials and my partner went for the Rump steak. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We then opted for Sticky Toffee pudding to share for pudding. Beth brought this over with candles in and a sparkler as she knew we were staying for my 40th. This was a lovely touch. We spent the rest of the evening sat at the bar. Andy & Beth were working and were both really friendly and hard working. We then met Dean (chef) and my partner complimented him on his steak and bought him a drink. He then stayed to have a chat with us. The following morning we were met with Karen who served us breakfast. Again she was a lovely lady and made us feel welcome. The breakfast was very nice. We then headed into Cardiff shopping after tips from staff on were to go etc. When we arrived back late afternoon we had a quick drink at the bar before freshening up for our evening meal. We decided to eat in again due to the meal the night before being so good. Again the food did not disappoint. We checked out the following morning after breakfast. We briefly spoke to the owner Richard who was very easy to talk to and friendly. We will be back again as we enjoyed our break here. You will not be disappointed if you book your stay here.

Late afternoon lunch stop for food and play! Excellent facilities and great value for children - meal, squash and soft play £7. We sat in the soft play area as not too busy and ordered hunters chicken, absolutely lush, perfect bbq sauce, cheese and chicken and plenty of chips with a small side salad! Partner had peri peri rice and chips, again very tasty and ate all. We also had Childs nuggets chips and beans, huge portion and no complaints! Food took a while to come so was grateful we had softplay and found difficult to cut meat as knife was so blunt! Wish restaurants would get decent knives as the food was not tough at all!! Lush pub in the lanes, soft play for rainy days and a beautiful garden with park for children on dry days! We will def be back over the summer as perfect venue to entertain the whole family!

This place has gone downhill hugely, what a disappointment. I never write reviews as a rule but everything at this place got my back up within seconds of walking in. Approached the bar and politely ask the barman if there were any menus, as there were none to be seen anywhere. He told us, with an undeserved attitude, that we had to deal with the waiting staff. Basically, you have to queue up just for the menu at the same till you order food from. So you either queue twice or when you get to the front, you get the menu and stay at the front while you and your family decide what you're having. I've never come across this system before but obviously causes delays. It also doesn't help when a couple just stroll in from outside go straight to the front with no regard for anyone and get served by the staff. All the food was very basic, hungry horse style pub food really, I have no issue with that.......at the right price. However, when you order an adults Hunters chicken for £15.99 and it turns up in one of those tiny plastic baskets not too much bigger than your hand, I felt massively ripped off. Plus it was dry and blatantly just taken from the microwave. Even when the waitress turned up with our food at our numbered table, she asked if we had ordered food, to which I replied "yes we have". I was then asked if I was winding her up. I had to rattle off the meals to prove I wasn't lying.....a bit strange but again, not a big deal. Overall, some attitude from staff, not all but one or two, and well over priced poor food. This place used to be good but I wouldn't bother going back now

Family Sunday lunch for birthday party of 13 ,on arrival told it was a 1 hour wait for food which was a little disappointing as party had pre-booked ,more disappointing was that it was 1.5 hours before we were served starters ,children amongst our party were starving .Main course came 35 minutes later .Asked 3 times for jug of water to go with drinks .Food was ok when it came ,but the wait really spoilt the day .If management respond ? yes it was busy ,but you knew the party number had been booked well in advance ,so we should have taken preference over walk ins ,& we did turn up on time .Plus no apology ,very sorry Three Horse Shoes wont be back ,plenty of other places in area to go too.
