We've stayed at Insel Fehmarn many times while in Samoa. Their 3rd-floor executive rooms are the best bang for the buck, in my opinion, and complimentary breakfast is always a delight.
Yet, on this trip, when we stepped out for a quick breakfast, we left everything lying out (wallet, jewelry, passports, electronics, etc.) as we would check out right afterward. To our shock, as we approached our room, I noticed the cleaning lady three doors down from us and the doors next to our rooms slightly ajar. When we came to our door, it was also open.
I presumed they came by to see if we'd checked out yet but saw everything inside and closed the door, yet it was still open. The good thing was that no one else went in there, and nothing was missing, but they didn't offer a "Do not Disturb" sign, and there was no way to advise them not to enter the room.
This could have caused significant problems if someone else would have entered the room. Because we were in a rush, we didn't make a big deal about it, which can cause serious problems.
I hope they implement some procedures that will keep their guest's property safe because leaving a door open isn't a simple mistake.
