The official entrance to the Hotel is around the back, the front is actually the entrance to the hotel restaurant through the small bar. No one told me this - I had to find it out for myself as I made my way through the various areas before arriving at an abandoned side office where the official front desk was located. After a wait of about 15 minutes a woman appeared checked my reservation and then led me to my room up a dark and winding staircase. The spartan room was dark ( and the dim lightbulbs didn't help) but it was clean. I asked what time they stopped serving dinner and the response was : Do you have a booking? I said no, I didn't and then she said: well we're fully booked. I asked again and said, I'm tired from traveling and I'll sit outside at a table or just have some of the tapas which I saw being served at the entrance. She said , "No you might find something in town." When I went downstairs to inquire which was the easiest way to town? I was told to look at the map. Not having a car I walked down the steep hill ( and found a pizza place that was open - otherwise the town seemed to be abandoned. The breakfast the next morning was as spartan as the room - the basics were there and they were edible but not better than that ( and at 11 euros a day -overpriced) . It's clean, the water was hot and the bed was comfortable but friendly? No. I got the feeling that everyone would have rather been somewhere else.

there are lovely hotel options in the immediate area--avoid this place--the staff are rude, the management worse and the rooms are tired. the area is lovely so find another charming hotel like the Le Belfroi that is nearby and infinitely nicer.

The hotel is pleasant overall, quiet, but a few points are annoying. The cleanliness of the rooms and the bedding: absolutely nothing to say, perfect. The staff: pleasant and responsive. The room is large, but no wardrobe or storage for belongings?? Access: the entire hotel is accessible via stairs, more or less narrow, but I think that the majority of hotels in Vaison must be identical. The hotel is in no way responsible for this situation but a warning would not be superfluous. I will not speak of people with reduced mobility, but just of people who have difficulty with steps... Avoid. The hotel is located almost at the very top of Vaison and the parking difficulties linked to the town encourage you not to touch your vehicle once it is parked, so go down to town on foot. So far so good. The return is much less fun for those who are not in good physical condition. The swimming pool: I don't think I noticed in the descriptions that it's not adjacent to the hotel... not far, certainly, about thirty meters, but you'll have to travel along the road. My biggest complaint is the breakfast. Quite minimalist unless you take the egg and cold meats option. One morning, no bread, another no orange juice, then no yogurt, no apple juice, we were offered apricot nectar instead, and a very temperamental coffee machine, all available in a very dark mini room... Nothing catastrophic in all that, the price is right, but it could be very good with a few things corrected.

The hotel is well located on the heights of Vaison, however we felt cheated on the services advertised on the hotel's website. Our triple room had no air conditioning and was equipped with two deafeningly noisy fans. Good luck getting to sleep with such noise. What can we say about the room... charmless, austere, very old. With cleanliness that leaves something to be desired. The advertised swimming pool is not in the hotel; you have to continue down the street to get there. Specifying this on the website would help us avoid being surprised. In short, a nice website but one that hides the reality of the hotel.

We had booked the duplex apartment with terrace, air conditioning, and kitchenette. Upon arrival, we were informed that it had been rented to others because there were 3 of us and 5 of the others. Never seen that anywhere! Note the young receptionist, a beginner and full of goodwill, but completely abandoned by a completely absent management. After 3 hours (really 3 real hours) of waiting at the pool, (Jacuzzi not working by the way...) we were offered a neighboring AirBNB, without air conditioning, without a terrace, and where we had to sleep 2 in a bed. And at 8:00 a.m. (to the minute), noisy construction work started on the AirBNB above, same owner. In a word: Run away from this hotel.
