Rock and Sea Resort

Unbelievable unbelievable unbelievable. Honestly the most amazing experience and the worlds nicest staff. Best place in Watamu - do not miss it! From the moment we arrived to the end, everything was perfect. The food is incredible and fresh.

We had booked 3 nights to end our honeymoon in Kenya and were impressed by the description, pictures and reviews online however the reality was very different. The rooms were dirty, there are rusty nails hanging out of the decking, the decking next to our suite was rotten, there are holes in the roof for monkeys to come in, the bed was infested with giant ants, there were holes in the mosquito nets and the staff are hostile and unfriendly. We were told that the reason for all of the above was that the hotel is an “eco lodge” which seemed dismissive of our concerns. When we eventually decided to leave a day early due to the multitude of problems (and the way the staff reacted when we raised them) the owner could be heard over the phone to the manager threatening that we needed to “keep quiet”. This hotel is in a beautiful setting and has the raw materials to be lovely but the maintenance/cleanliness of the rooms and the customer service left a lot to be desired, especially considering the price.

We stayed at The Rock and Sea in March 2022. Everything was amazing! The staff is friendly and so helpful! We arrived with not much of a plan but we were able to get help setting up a driver to take us to the snake farm and the Gede Ruins. The water taxi is a lovely way to get to the other side of the creek. The Dhow boat excursion was the best!! Such a lovely way to spend a whole day and one of our favorite memories of the trip. We stayed in the Baobab Bubble Lodge and it was a unique experience. We felt like we had plenty of privacy and loved watching the monkeys play in the trees above us and waking up to the creek lapping on the beach below us. The staff also helped my now fiancé propose by taking lots of photos of us during the proposal. We couldn't have asked for a better adventure and have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Rock and Sea resort!!

We just returned after a stayed 3 nights at R&S . What an amazing experience ! Everything was perfect and beyond our expectations. Accommodation - the Bubble experience was surreal . Luckily we had some rain one day and watching it from the Bubble was awesome. We then transferred into the main suite ( Honeymoon) which was extra ordinary ! Very rustic but exceptionally spacious , high comfort levels and awesome views. Staff - the staff to guest ratio is generous so there was always someone available to attend to our needs. Nothing was too much trouble - we asked for massages and private yoga lessons and both were readily arranged. Food - as we are vegan we asked for speciality items like Tofu , Quinoa, humous , avocado etc . The chefs were very obliging and ensured all our needs were catered for. There are too many staff to individually mention but Jane on reception is most approachable and ensured all services were coordinated. Stefano the GM ( owner ) is forever available and extremely helpful and honest. Dhow safari - we took a day excursion which was very exciting and fun. Sadly we didn’t see dolphins but the snorkelling and swim in the sea was great. Overall - magical and truly boutique experience - beyond our expectations. We will definitely return and strongly recommend this place. Just book it !

On arrival we were greeted by Stefano, the owner, who gave a short brief of the day. We embarked on Pepo Huru and went to see the dolphins, great experience. Afterwards we went snorkeling and saw so many colorful fish. Lunch was served in the restaurant of Rock and Sea resort, the 4 course lunch was outstanding! The view from the restaurant is spectacular. In the afternoon we sailed thought the creek, took another swim, relaxed, saw the flamingos and the day ended with a beautiful sundowner. An activity not to miss while in Watamu.

We had to make a last minute booking because of mishap on previous travel plans. We called and luckily they had availability Having not much expectation, we were impressed by what we got. My husband and I stayed at the amazing Imperial Banda...it was awesome we almost conceived a 3rd born. Beautiful views of the sea right from the room. Gazing at the stars by night. My boys stayed right next at the King suite Banda. We all did not want to leave when our time was up! We shall be back. Did I say the staff are amazing?
