Sebastian one of the workers has an absolutely terrible attitude and should be fired. He was the person working when I arrived and was perfectly nice for the first 24 hours. Then, it’s like the mask came off and he was his real self extremely inappropriate and rude. You don’t call somebody lazy when they’re on vacation that’s crazy even if you’re just joking. Still crazy and inappropriate. Also, it’s not my problem what the housekeeper is going to be pissed off about so you don’t have to mention it to me. They need to make towels here and take them out of the bunks . Maybe get this specific worker to stop complaining incessantly and it’ll be a better vibe.

The staff being extremely rude to me the second morning gave me horrible vibe and I cried but then my trip got a lot better once I left this place. Still my favorite trip here so far despite the rude comments made to me by Sebastian at breakfast . Calling a disabled person lazy is highly inappropriate. The facilities themselves are pretty good. I think the stuff just has a hard hard time providing good customer service consistently. I get it, it’s not the easiest industry to be in but if you don’t have anything nice to say, it’s better to not speak.

Misrepresenting as a hotel. This is a single story disjointed structure. Had to pay in advance and not when checking out. No TV and internet is slow and is dropped all the time. No toiletries or hairdryer provided. No hand towel or towel rack in bathroom - just 2 bath towels. Very overgrown. Floors are uneven and people keep tripping on them. King bed in room left 6 inches on either side and filled the room, so no night tables or a chair and had to crawl in from the foot of the bed. It is very clean and 2 reception guys are very good. Excellent air conditioning. Good breakfast included. Centrally located near to restaurants. Avoid if expecting even a basic hotel.

The Tucan hostel ist definetly one of the best hostels I have ever been in Costa Rica. The staff was very friendly and always willed to help. Thanks to the great staff, booking daytrips one day before was easy as well. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool area and the kitchen are nice and clean too. The main area is full of comfortable places to chill. My highlight were the hammocks and the cats around the chillarea. The only thing which wasnt perfect was that the fridge (or some other machine from the breakfast area, I dont know exactly) made noise all night long. But you get used to it and in the dorms you won‘t hear that. All in all I really loved my stay here and would definetly come back!! Thank you!

The owners and workers (Sebastian, Steven, Joel) were amazing and very helpful. They provided great recommendations on tours and day trips etc. Awesome free breakfast - eggs, traditional beans/rice, toast and cheese/jam, fresh fruit, oatmeal, cake, lots of tea, coffee The rooms were very clean and decorated well. Beautiful common area with lounging area. Nice pool with lounge chairs in the sun and shade. Pool table and board games and a library in the lounge area. Right in the heart of town with lots of amazing restaurants and bars in walking distance. Common kitchen for those who want to cook. Very nice bar open all day Room we stayed in was a converted RV - super unique with TV, bathroom, shower, AC etc Great wifi throughout the hotel

The Tucan hotel is a charming, picturesque place, the decoration is neat. We spent 3 nights there in the converted bus, very comfortable with good quality bedding, shower, lounge and air conditioning. Shops 2 steps away which is not negligible. Nothing to say about the place itself except that it is probably more pleasant to stay in Bahia Uvita which is really close and much prettier. Very nice and friendly reception staff. What disappointed us: The hotel restaurant closed when we were told it was open when we booked. Of course there are other possibilities in the area but we would have appreciated knowing before our arrival since the hotel could very easily contact us. The non-existent welcome on our arrival, we had partly chosen this establishment because the owners are French-speaking. We hoped that they could give us information. Unfortunately we did not have the pleasure of seeing them although the young receptionist told us that they had been warned and would come and see us. We had booked a day trip to Corcovado through the hotel and no information was given to us about it except that a taxi would pick us up at 6:00 am. The other participants, who had come from other hotels, had been given fairly precise explanations about what to take with them, for example. No instructions on how to clean our accommodation. Seeing that the bed had not been made nor the bins emptied, we asked reception what was going on. Answer "I don't know if it is planned for someone to do it on the bus" So we emptied the bins ourselves ... A place that is therefore much warmer than the welcome reserved for customers. We explained this by messages to the owner who told us that we had arrived at a particular time for personal reasons. I'm willing to believe it, but it's a shame that such a nice place is so impersonal. The quality/price ratio is good despite an average breakfast.

I spent 4 nights at the Tucan Hotel, then I came back one night later in my trip because I really fell in love with this hotel with its warm setting! The central living room is beautifully decorated, colorful, filled with hammocks and sofas where it is good to relax, surrounded by the hotel cats lounging in the sun. There is a kitchen area to prepare your own meals. I slept in a small bungalow perfectly arranged where I found all the necessary comfort! I felt at home there :) The swimming pool is very pleasant. The breakfast is excellent and prepared with great attention! All the staff are very attentive, the staff is adorable, speaks perfect English if you don't speak Spanish well. And special mention to Pierre, the manager, who is incredibly kind and who does everything to ensure you have a pleasant stay. And all this, for a quality-price ratio that I have not found elsewhere in Costa Rica! I warmly recommend :)
