Great Lodge is close to the airport (58 mins walking or 14 mins by bus). I wanted a place in nature, and I was served : multiple public footpaths and hiking trail (see picture).
The room was clean, spacious and warm. Didn't have soap or conditioner as mentioned, but I didn't need them since I had mine.
Check-in and check-out were easy (a person was at the front desk).

The bottom sheet doesn't fit mattress. One of the beside lights was strobing, and you couldn't turn it off (thankfully, I sleep with a mask). I'd requested a room with a bath but got a shower. My flight was delayed, so I arrived after the reception was closed, so they left my key on the side with my details clear for all to see. What was worse, on the other side of the paper, were someone else's details!
Thankfully, I'm a solo traveller cus I needed both pillows from my bed to not give myself a bad neck.
Plus, traveling in the dark, it was hard to find the hotel itself as the lights were off

The standard of this hotdl was very poor. I felt like i was zlready in a ***** world country. It was messy, noisy from the road , noisy from other people staying and no amenities. The only good thing in its favour was its location in relation to the airport and the friendly face at the reception.

Was better than anticipated after seeing the reviews. Room was a good size. Easy to check in. Room was clean and had what I needed for a short sleep before flying out including towels and mini shower gels. I arrived at 8pm. Flight was at 6am. Tap was loose was only concern with Room itself. My main concern was that this hotel is not that suitable for the airport. I booked as part of holiday extra parking and hotel bundle. I had no easy means to get from car park as no public transport. Shuttle does not go near the hotel. So I uber it for £20. I then got to hotel and despite being physically close you are unable to walk to airport. At 3am I was not able to walk or use bus so pre booked a taxi for £23. For the extra fees I should have just stayed at the internal airport hotel. Lots of fuss and extra cost which could have been avoided if I'd checked reviews first.

No staff at reception desk to welcome you, check you in and give a room key. Rung an emergency telephone number which I spotted on a piece of paper on the desk Got connected to DeSalis Hotels Stansted and was told to seat and wait until a. staff member arrive When someone arrived he took about 10 minutes to check us in The screen to input our car registration number was out of order Room spacious but poorly maintained No headboard, on inspection matress dirty and covered in fluff and hair, staff come to hoover it on request Shower broken and leaking Laminated flooring mostly damaged and trip hazard No shower mats or hand towel, just 2 bath towels Toiletries used No catering facilities or vending machines Place generally run down and poorly maintained If you can save your, save your money and go to another hotel
