I heard that the location is a bit far. It may be a bit difficult to drag the carrier, but if the luggage is light, it's not that hard. It was great to walk along the small hillside and quiet village road. I stayed for 2 nights, but Yufuin is over in a day, but staying for 2 nights in the hot spring is a good choice without regret! I applied for dinner Kaiseki and breakfast for 2 nights, but both times came out slightly differently, so it was fun to eat. , The beer that I could drink for free was delicious and completely satisfied !!

My family of four planned a trip to Fukuoka and decided to visit Yufuin to experience outdoor onsen. I came across Yufuin Gettouan during my research, and its beauty and tranquility really spoke to me. We only stayed one night because of the lack of availability (and also because it's really expensive), but we really wish we would have stayed longer. There was a ”once in a decade” snowstorm (which seems to occur more frequently than once a decade) when we took the Yufuin no Mori from Fukuoka to Yufuin. As always, fresh white snow makes everything more beautiful (at least in my opinion), and despite my high expectations, I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and serenity of this ryokan. We stayed in a main villa because the annex villas didn't allow kids, but it still has its own private outdoor onsen. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that there was no indoor shower/bathtub in the villa. Since we were not brave enough to take a shower outdoor in snowy conditions, we ended up going to the public bath to take a shower before heading back to the villa and hopping into the private outdoor onsen. It's an unbelievable experience watching the snow falls while being submerged in a cozy onsen! Service and meals were both exceptional, and I would have gone into more details if not for the 1500-character limit on TripAdvisor. If you are looking for a traditional onsen ryokan experience, you really can't go wrong with Yufuin Gettouan. My only regret was only staying for one night.
Enjoy bathing in our free flow 100% natural hot spring baths and a sense of freedom, watching seasonal views of Yufudake Mountain.

Because it was located in a quiet place, I felt a quiet rural atmosphere.
It may feel far away because it is located at the end of an uphill road from the station, but it is located right in front of Kinrinko Lake, a famous spot in Yufuin.
The clerks were also very friendly, and when I asked if I could store my luggage, they said they could, so I came in after playing with a grateful heart.
He even helped me bring my luggage to the room.
I was impressed from the beginning thanks to the comfortable and considerate service.
However, we wanted to reserve a place with a private bath on the first floor.
They said it was already full..! Oh my gosh,,
An open-air bath that can be reserved for 1 hour and used privately.
I made a reservation at night and used it, so there was actually no inconvenience!
Also, we all go to the shared public bath early in the morning.
Since it was just my family, it was also unintentionally private.
As expected from Yufuin, the hot spring water was very good and neat and clean.
Even when checking out, the owner greeted me kindly.
Even if Jim Carrey is carried to the first floor just like the first time...
I'm really touched in many ways,,,🥹
There are many ryokans in Yufuin, but this is a really great ryokan for the price.
Next time I visit again, I want to experience the first floor as well.
I'm planning to re-book ㅜㅠㅠ It was such a friendly experience,,
And there is a soba restaurant with the same name right next to the bathhouse.
It looks like they only sell lunch, but this place is also really good and there is a long wait, which is a shame since it is located right next door. 🤭

Good hotel for the price conveniently located near the railway station for ease of travel around the Oita Prefecture. First trip to Japan so a bit apprehensive but staff spoke good English and we were able to be understood in the local restaurants and bars. Small room but with Ensuite facility and internet connection. Restaurant for breakfast and dinner but I did not try the food - ate out at local restaurants. Clean hotel - drinks vending machine available in Reception. Located off main highway through the city.

Last time I booked a Western-style room this time I booked a Japanese-style room. Also, the glass used is cloudy due to aging deterioration, so it's time to replace it with a stone! ?? I booked Chinese food this time and I was expecting it because the Japanese food was delicious last time, but unfortunately Chinese food was not so good. There was no. If the interval is too wide, you will feel full and your food will not progress. I will never use Chinese food 2 from the next time. Breakfast is rich and delicious. Bath The open-air bath is comfortable, but I want you to put a good shampoo in the men's bath! The correspondence of the hotel staff was very good as last time.

The check in process was ”smart check-in”, where guests receive the passcode to the room via email. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any email (not in junk/spam either), and was stuck outside the room, trying to call a call center that had already closed for the day. There was also no reply to the email I had sent via the Trip app. In the end, I had to ask the guest staying in another room for the phone number of the person directly in-charge of the facility, so that I could call them to get the password and check-in code. The facility exceeded my expectations, but the check-in process due to the missing email was too stressful and unpleasant. I may use the facility again, but I will book it through another app to prevent such problems again.

I went with my mother and I, didn't drive, the location of the hotel is not too convenient, but there are buses to go nearby, but when you walk to the hotel road, you have to drag two big luggages on the hard rock road about 5-8 minutes. But I think the instructions are all clear! The clerk is not very knowledgeable in English, but I appreciate their attitude and patience. I use all the body language to communicate well. Plus, I am buried in my room, very careful! And the room is ready to introduce Japanese and English! There are 3 common hot springs in the hotel! We stayed in the room at the end of the 2nd floor, opposite the room is one of the hot springs! Our room is large! The bathrobe provided is beautiful! At night, you will hear the sound of the generator in the room. It is estimated that the sound of the whole hot spring water will be a bit unaccustomed at first!

Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. Unfortunately, the hotel never contacted me. I then asked guest relations again (on 5 Jan) to follow up with th

This is the failure of the blind hotel selection for this trip to Japan. . In fact, there are many other hotel options in the town. Fortunately, the surrounding environment heals and does not affect the overall travel mood.
The so-called private bath is as small as a single bathtub, and the only outdoor hot spring time is very short. I didn't know that the scheduled dinner was not in the hotel until I arrived. I needed to take a car, and I didn't explain it in advance. It is very similar to a simple ABB standard hotel, which is very different from the expected hot spring hotel. It is also far from the station. The advantage is that it is very close to Jinlin Lake. Get up early and go for a walk. The environment of the town is so beautiful
The attitude of the service staff is very good. After 9 o'clock, they get off work and ask for self service. At this price, I can't complain, and I won't choose it next time
