The staff is incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. The rooms and common areas felt super clean - particularly the beds. Some places just have a pleasant clean feel to them, and this is definitely one of those places. Additionally one is provided with a free toothbrush, hair comb, disposable towel etc. The washing machines and dryers are also free to use - a travellers dream come true. However: If you have ever used to bathroom at Stansted airport in the United Kingdom, you know how bad toilets can smell… At least that’s what I thought before coming to this hostel. The stench in the bathrooms (the male bathroom at least) was on a whole new level, I couldn’t even have dreamt of in my worst nightmares m. Never in my life have I had such fowl air enter my nostrils. I shall not proceed to describe the smell because I simply lack the words to do so. You will yearn for an oxygen tank in there. When I arrived, in their defence, there was a sewage issue. However, the smell continued to haunt the bathroom (and me) even when sewage issue was fixed. Perhaps part of it can be attributed to some of the guests having difficulties using the squat toilets - and the infrequent cleaning of accidents. Often times there is fecal matter on the floor - be it hard lumps by the side of the toilets or in liquid form exploded onto the floor and walls. Watch out you don’t slip in it! Besides this quite substantial issue - and the consequent inability to shave, dry my hair, brush my teeth and quite frankly breathe in the bathroom , I had a pleasant stay. A hostel with so much potential.
