In a nutshell: 2-3 star hotel where you should spend 1 or 2 nights max if you have to. Thanks to incompetency of my travel adviser (see my review https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g1028202-d23510676-r869242881-De_viaje_por_Chihuahua-Chihuahua_Northern_Mexico.html?m=19905) I spent there 4 nights. The hotel is situated on the middle of the small town. The scenery is beautiful. The town is located on the banks of the river surrounded by hills covered with forest. The beautiful church built in 16 century is the main town feature. The hotel is right next to the church. It has its own vineyard, about 40+ rooms, a small pool, saloon, etc. Here are few positives and negatives about the hotel: a. Positives: i. Excellent restaurant. The food is delicious, I would say unexpectedly sophisticated for the small town. ii. Very responsive staff. I had some challenges with my tour operator and the lady at the front desk went out of her way to help. iii. The hotel offers local tours at very reasonable price: walking to the waterfall, Gallegos overlook, Urique tour, etc. b. Negatives: i. No WiFi, no connectivity whatsoever. They claim that this is because of the location, and yet there is a small store nearby where you can buy temporary access to wifi. The side effect is that your Google translate does not converse. That leads to the next problem. ii. English is non-existent at the hotel at all. So, if you cannot communicate in Spanish, then you are out of luck. iii. The room heaters are wood stoves. It is pretty chilly at this altitude in November. So, to get through the night you need to burn wood in your room. The hotel personnel starts the fire for you. Within an hour it becomes uncomfortably hot in the room. Then, within another hour or so, the room temperature goes down and room becomes comfortable enough for the night. iv. In my view the hotel is hugely overpriced for what it is. v. During my stay there was 12+ hour power outage. Based on the written comments from the guests, it is not uncommon. c. Tip on how to structure your visit: on the day of arrival do the waterfall walk or a wine tour. Both are optional, but you want to occupy the afternoon somehow. Next day: morning - Gallegos overlook. The overlook is a must and the reason you came here. It is impressive. After you finish you 100 photos at the overlook, continue you transfer to another location. IMHO, other local attractions (e.g. Urique tour; I did them all) are not worth the time you spend on them.
