What looked like a nice venue turned out to be a rip-off for tourists. If you try to pay with a UK credit card that works EVERYWHERE else in Trinidad for TT dollars they will force you to pay in US dollars at a terrible exchange rate, increasing your bill substantially and also forcing you to pay twice when your credit card converts the US dollars to UK pounds. One price for someone with a TT bank account, a price increase for US cards and a double currency cost for everyone else. Go elsewhere, see how their business survives on TT nationals only.

What a great hotel! This was not my first visit to Trinidad but it was the first time I was on my own so as a solo female traveller I was a bit cautious. As it turned out I didn't need to be as this hotel made sure I felt comfortable. I was able to contact them beforehand and book a taxi pick up from the airport at which point they gave me the name and number of the driver so I knew who I was looking for. They always use the same driver and honestly I'm not surprised as he was fantastic. I booked him to take me to the other side of the island to see friends and also back to the airport. He was very chatty and made me feel at ease. The hotel itself was great. The pool was clean as we're all the other communal areas. The room was bigger than I expected, very clean also and in great condition. Don't expect a balcony or patio it's not your typical holiday resort as its not by the beach but in a town but also don't let that put you off. The staff are helpful and friendly especially the restaurant and bar staff. A lot of business people stay here from other countries and the staff make a point of talking to them and knowing what they need. Finally let's talk food, it was brilliant. A great varied menu and all a very good standard. During the weekend there were a lot of local couples and families that came in just to eat so that should tell you a lot. Overall a really enjoyable stay and if I have the opportunity to stay again I definitely will.

The most deplorable customer service and treatment. As I write this @ 2:12am, my husband and I are in the lobby waiting for redress. We booked and fully paid for the room with the hot tub for our anniversary and as part of my physiotherapy. We checked in and just left our bags then went to dinner. We came back to the hotel a bit after 7pm and after changing, called the staff about operating the hot tub. Not a staff member had a clue! We had 3 persons come to the room between 9 and 10:30pm and still nothing. We finally got fed up of the run around and told the front desk that we were not getting what we paid for and that we’d like to leave. Note time is going and it’s minutes to 11pm. We’ve been seeking a full refund as we’ve not gotten what we paid for. ( by now the 3 persons who checked the hot tub decided it just wasn’t working). Since then, we’ve been down in the lobby trying to get help. As expected, no one could help us as the manager is out. We are simply just waiting, not in anyone’s way. I must make mention of the poor and roudy attitude of one of the security officers who came in and started raising his voice at us simply because we were waiting. He had no knowledge of the matter at hand and decided he was the boss. At the very least, he should be sent to pursue a course on customer service. It’s now after 2am and we are still waiting. I honestly expected better from this hotel. There will never be another thought wasted on this place. Now I’m just being petty letting all know that the room has cobwebs and the bed had crawling creatures 😔. I really just wanted to appreciate what my husband had done.

Front desk staff were unwelcoming. They wanted to charge us an extra night stay for a 3 hour early check in. No hot water. No elevators. Beds are very uncomfortable. Pool, bar, and restaurant staff are excellent. Will try another place next time.

My wife and I stayed here for a family event in San Fernando. A local relative managed to book us a “superior” room for 960 TTD pn (internet booking sites only offered the more expensive “executive” rooms at 1,146.84 TTD pn), which although small, was adequate for our needs with a fridge, microwave, good aircon, comfortable bed, kettle, cups and tea/coffee/creamer and a roll of kitchen towel. The ensuite bathroom had a good shower and soap/shampoo/hand lotion were replenished daily. There was water in the fridge but this proved not to be complimentary (although it was cheaper than in the on-site shop). Daily housekeeping was good. Everything was clean and worked well. Our only concern about the room was that there were immovable bars on the window which would have prevented escape in the event of a fire. The breakfast available was not buffet-style – you ordered from a small menu (and the kitchen sometimes did not seem to have (or want to provide) the most basic of items). There were insufficient staff at breakfast and the service was sometime very slow. One waitress was friendly and helpful, some of the others seemed keen to avoid you and the coffee refills took so long in coming that we had generally left before the “floating pot” arrived. On one occasion we were told the coffee machine had broken down so not to wait (which at least saved us time and disappointment). Reception staff seemed pleasant and were willing to accept USD in exchange for TTD but when it came to changing our unused TTD back we were given the runaround - firstly being told a supervisor had to be present and later being told bluntly that they did not offer a TTD buyback service, so unfortunately our parting impression of the hotel was less favourable than our initial impression on arrival. The property does not have lifts so there are a lot of steps. It is not a disabled friendly hotel. I hope you find this review helpful.
