Garden Palace Resort

I had a great experience in this hotel. The rooms are big and the hotel is close to the city center. In the summer you can bathe in hotels pool are at the beach nearby. I strongly recommend this place. The staff is very nice and the food is very delicious.

The rooms are well equipped with really new and modern furnishings. From the room, we had a view of the harbor and the old town of Umag. The location is ok - although close to the waterfront, it is quite a long walk to the restaurants in town or to any beaches. The wifi was ok but not great - it only works in the room itself but not in common areas. The pool is quite small and does not have any kids-friendly areas like splash areas or shallow ends. Unfortunately, we had a very bad start to our stay when we had to wait up to 2.5 hours after our agreed check-in time before our room was cleaned and ready to go in. We were told that they did not have enough cleaners. I see that this was also mentioned by other reviewers in 2019 already, so the hotel really does not take this problem seriously. Because of the big rush to complete cleaning we got the impression that the cleaning job was not done properly. The problems did not stop there. The drain in the "walk-in" shower was blocked so you had to stop the shower every 3 minutes otherwise the entire bathroom will flood. The kitchen had some nice and modern furnishings but missed many basics you would need to properly use the kitchen. For example, there is dishwashing liquid but nothing to wash the dishes with... An oven, but no oven mitts to take hot stuff out. Nothing to clean the surfaces etc etc. The main living room is very spacious and comfortable, but the bedroom on the other hand is very very small and cramped. You could not keep any suitcases in the bedroom. The fridge was switched off and leaking water all over the place - again nothing to wash it out with. Overall my wife summed it up well when she said that she never felt welcomed in this place. There is no information about the pool, restaurant, or facilities available. Overall a very strange experience. We won't be back.

This was one of the worst experience in my life. Complex is not very clean but it's new (built in 2019) and has great potential on top location in Umag. There is significant shortage of staff in complex. There is not enough maid so rooms are not ready on time of check in and not very clean as well as whole complex, there is no waiters so there is no enough plates, glasses and they have very slow service on breakfast, although staff is very friendly and trying to help. They mentioned that management won't send them additional colleagues on time and they ran in trouble on such a rush weekends. We've got totally wrong room that we booked, in booking stayed that room is for 4 people and we have got 2+2 rooms without any notice. There wasn't sea view as mentioned in our booking coupon as well as jacuzzi that was in pictures as room was described as "luxurious". Pictures in our booking coupon was for presidential suite and we got standard room. That booking was kind of fraudulent and this is not place that I would recommend to anyone.
